Cheap 1 bed apartment or spare room required for few weeks

Hi All,
Hope someone can help here but we fly over on 1st feb which was for 2 wks to validate visa etc but I would prefer to stay to find work etc while Sue returns to the UK to tie up loose ends.
Need a base for say 5/6wks max but cheap as really as we didnt plan on me staying and dont want to dent the savings to much while waiting for Sue to return.
Once she returns we can house hunt together.
Just want own room space, running water and maybe some cooking facilities

Please let me know of any short term solutions I can take while over there.
