Good luck with the application, it really is a rollercoaster of emotions and all the waiting! We`ve been here since mid June and loving it so far, Mandurah is a lovely place, I love sitting at the Dome Cafe watching the dolphins (we are living near Rockingham, so not too far away).

Hi Bev, thanks for your post.
I can't apply for visa until my skill assessment accepted. I can't apply for registration either until skills assessment accepted. Bit of a waiting game I'm afraid.
Are you a Midwife too? How far down the visa processing line are you?
Hope it's going well.

Bev

Chloe's 10 & Mikey's 2, Chloes come round to the idea but at first she was dead against it. Thats good yours are onside it could be difficult at that age if they wasn't. Nothing lined up but were going to go to Ellenbrook i think and no job lined uo for Mike yet although we have made contact with someone that has family in Perth adn might have work for him, so thats sounds promising, How about you guys???

Brill.
A little story which might help them if they change their minds.
A few years ago, a young American girl joined my daughters junior school. She hated England and wanted to go 'home'
After a very short while she made new friends, and loved it. Three years later, her parents decided to go back to America - she wanted to stay here in England, at 'home!'
They certainly adapt better than us grown ups don't they.

Yes, it's very useful. Try aussiemove.com aswell, loads of useful info on there too.
I have been summoned to watch a film with my son, so off for a bit of mother / son bonding.
Keep in touch.
Kind regards

Hi my wife and I also in Leicester are new to this site and have just started the process and are getting excited even though we are at the beginning. We are looking at going to Perth as I have already got a firm job offer. we are about to pay an agent which at the moment is the worrying thing as we are giving money to someone we have never seen although she has been recomended to us by the person who offered me the job. at what stage are you at now?

Hi Paul, good to hear from you. It's great to hear that you have secured a job.
We have had medicals and Police checks. Also received positive skills assessment last week so really excited. Now need to sit the ielts test then can progress to visa application.
I also use an Agent. PM me with details of your agent etc I have lots of useful information if you want it. We are happy to support you along the way.

Hi and welcome to perth poms. I'm a nurse in mental health and we've been here since January. All settled really well (I think the key was starting work pretty quickly and getting into 'normal' life mode rather than 'holiday'.

We're south of the river in Leeming

Glad you are all enjoying life Ali.
We are looking at Secret Harbour/Mandurah areas but quite flexible.
I am a Midwife here in UK. I have expressed an interest at Peel Campus and have had good response from them.
Are the children happy at their new schools? I have done a little research on schools, they don't seem vastly different from UK schools.

I work in Armadale as a community nurse.

My children are 8 and 12. I have to say that schools seem more relaxed in their approach here and I've adapted to that. My son (8) was a bit indifferent to school in the UK (although he was doing really well), but he didn't talk much about his day - here he loves it, he talks about school every evening and is really enjoying it. My daughter had started high school in UK but year 7 here is last year of primary. She's actually not minded being back in primary as it's enabled her to develop friends and to get a good idea of the system. She tells me that it feels more relaxed and that teachers will adapt lessons and do different things, which makes it fun and enjoyable. They both learn Japanese but the high school my daughter will go to offers French and she would like to do that again.

My 2 are very different personalities and have both made friends very quickly and do seem to love it here.

Thanks Ali.
My children are 17 and 14. I have a school in mind for my son (the 14 year old) The prospectus is good - well put together. My daughter id thinking about Feemantle University, that looks nice too.
Glad your children are happy. It takes a lot of pressure off.

It's very cliched I know but if the kids are happy we're happy. We didn't think they'd have a problem settling but it was an enormous relief when they did. i was particulalry worried about my daughter 'cos you know what 11 -12 year old girls can be like with each other. In the UK she had about 4 very close friends and it's exactly the same here.

Is it Notre Dame that you're daughters interested in? I love Freo

I agree, it helps if kids are happy.
I think I looked at Notre Dame - I have looked at so many. If thats the uni in Freemantle then yes.
