We're already here in Perth. We got our visa in July last year, but had decided to wait until January this year to make the move. Our daughter was in her last year of primary and it was really important to her to finish that, we also wanted her to have a full years education here in year 7 before starting high school in Aus. It's worked out really well for us.

We're in Leeming which is a neighbouring suburb of bullcreek bob. We're 15 mins drive from the city and 20 mins to a beautiful beach at Freo. I have to say the drive into the city is beautiful from sor with glorious views of the city.. We've only been here since January and haven't been to Bunbury I'm afraid. Joondalup too far North for us although there are lots of Brits there I believe.

Hi Ali
how are you enjoying it so far?? any regrets??? what's your occupation??

Hi Bev,

No regrets at all. I'm a nurse in mental health, I did 6 months on the ward then applied for a communtiy post which I started 2 weeks ago. Hubby is electronics engineer and works for a cable TV company. Kids Alexandra (12) and Thomas (7) have settled in so well and Love school which does seem more relaxed here and definatley suits Tom. Who thinks he isn't doing things like mental maths but because they're not sat down and 'tested' like they were in the UK he thinks it's not happening, but it's obvious from things he tells me about that it is.

We both started work pretty quickly as we had jobs to go to so haven't done alot of expoloring yet - but certainly settled into the daily routine.

Hi Ali

Do you have family there, sounds like you've settled in well, so thats good, Chloes has exams this year so i'm hoping they're are at the beginning o may and not the end. How long did it take to get your visa one you had lodged your application ???? sorry for a million questions . Lol. we lodged ours 01.08.07 so i anticipate getting it between May and Aug at the latest.
Every time i speak to people who are either going or already there i keep thinking of loads of things to ask.

I have a brother in QLD, We lodged our application at the end of December 05 - Got our visa mid July 06. We waited until January - partly because my daughter wanted to finish primary school and also to give us a bit of time for the news to sink in that we could actually come and what that meant, leaving people behind etc.,

wow that was quick, i think at the moment there's a bit of a delay with the 136's because of people rushing them through before 1st Sept. Did you not like queensland, what made you dcide on WA???

Yes, it IS south, two towns south, 200 kilometers south or two hours south. It is not a southern suburb of Perth like Joondalup is a northern suburb of Perth. Nice place though, if you want to live in a small country town with an expanding comunity.

Are you using an agent???? I think once you have your police checks done you've only got 12 months from the date they're issued. they can take 40 days to get back , and we've been waiting about a month so far. We want to be gone to. starting to feel sad about leaving people behind and i'm absolutely dreading it.

Hi we did like Brisbane but a little too humid for us and also we liked the fact that WA was less populated (or more spead out lol). My brother is always talking about moving somewhere else so I didn't want to move to QLD to be near him for him to move on. Decided that if we were doing the move it had to be for us as a family and what we wanted.
