We are moving from Adelaide to Perth soon. Can anyone tell me of a good suburb to buy into??? On my Perth map I am leaning towards Alexander Heights , is that a newish area? We don't want a FIX me up House. What about Noollamara or Forestfield are they young suburbs? Just some place within 20 kms of the cbd under $500.000,am i dreaming.Any advice would be great............Thanks

Alexander Heights isn't a new suburb; it's quite old actually; but is handy to the city as it's only approx 15km from the Perth GPO.
Originally named "Alinjarra", an Aboriginal word for 'north' in 1977, this suburb was renamed Alexander Heights in 1987. The name is derived from Alexander Drive, the main arterial road into the area. The road honours S B Alexander, a Road Board Member who was very active in civic affairs.
The shopping centre was recently revamped and extended (still very basic and nothing at all to shout about), it's handy for the Malaga Industrial Estate. I ran an estate agency from the shopping centre for 2 years prior to branching out on my own.
On a personal note; Alexander Heights is not an area I would choose to live in. There are some fantastic houses in the suburb, and it is well catered for with fast food eateries and the Sherlock Pub. It is also very close to Mirrabooka, Koondoola, and Girrawheen........... which has disadvantages; but on the plus side it is handy for the Tonkin Highway and the airport.
Alexander Heights received adverse publicity when someone died from a drugs overdose at the Caltex Garage near the shopping precinct......... I guess that could happen anywhere though these days unfortunately? We also had to have our shop front window replaced quite frequently due to anti-social behaviour and overspill from the nearby pub.
You really need to do a drive-by and check it out yourself as i am sure the people who do live in Alexander Heights are very happy there; but on a personal note I'm afraid it isn't for me?
