Hi everyone

Do you know of anyone who has been refused registration with the NBWA through lack of experience?
We are set on WA (Perth) and before we start the visa process I wanted to get my registration in with the NBWA asap as its such an involved process.

Now I am more worried about getting that then getting the visa (sponsored 457).
I recently passed a return to practice course as I had been out of nursing for a while raising my children till school age.
The NBWA want transcripts of that course as well as my original RGN course and that they may consider it as recent experience.

I am now seriously worried as if I dont get that then we cant go.

Any help?

Hi Jackie,

I did it the other way around, I applied for my skills assessment first with the ANMC, I trained before the diplomas and I think the NMC had to do an archive search for my syllabus. I do know that you need to have been working for about 12 out of the last 18months (not 100% sure of these figures), to pass the skills assessment for the 136 visa. The ANMC require the same info as the nursing boards, but once you've successfully applied for your sills assessment they just pass on your file to the nursing board you wish to register with.

My friend went down the sponsorship route because she'd taken a year off for Mat leave and obviously hadn't worked in the last 12 months.

When did you complete your return to practice? - obtain a copy of all the things you covered and send that too - because it shows you passed competencies and are fit to practice. Did you retain your registration whilst you were looking after the children?

Contact the NMC and ask them for transcripts of your training (they found some for my RMN training).

Try not to worry, PM me if you need any more info.... I'm not the font of all knowledge but I may be able to help
