Hi Everybody

Just registered. We are new to this site. We are wanting to move to Perth next year. We have just started the application process. Both passed our eligibility assessment and have just paid to have our file looked at by a migration consultant.

We have gone with Migrationexpert.com. Has anybody else used this company? Any advice so far??

Hi

Thanks for the reply. We have a friend who has stayed with family in Ocean Reef near Joondalup for 9 months last year. He loved it and highly recommends it.

Jobs are obviously out first priority. I will probably have to travel into the city I think it is about 30-40min drive.

Where are you planning to live?

I'm not very good with this visa milarky, what is a 457?

Hi and welcome to Perth Poms. Sorry I don't know about the migration agency. Can I ask why you've both had your skills assessed? Although Hubby and I both had skills we only needed to apply on one.

Hi Ali

Thank you for your reply.

We had both our skills assessed to determine who was going come out best to lead the application. I teach Beauty Therapy in Further Education but I don't have a degree so we've decided that Matt's qualifications will be best.

I have just been on the phone to Thinkingaustralia they were sooo helpful. I've had no help what so ever from migrationexpert so going to give them a miss I think.

I'm going to a free seminer in London on Sunday with Thinkingaustralia to get more info.

What stage are you at? And what part are you heading for?

We're actually here in WA, arrived in January. The time has gone so quickly and I can't believe we've been here 8 months. We both had jobs to come to and they've worked out pretty well. The kids are happy and settled and we love it.

Hello everyone
I'm new to the forum and still finding my way around the site! I've just returned from oz we stayed in ocean reef. My husband was born in Australia and lived in both Sydney and Perth before he came to UK 10 years ago. He's been trying to get me to go for years! We have decided to sell up here in UK and move out to Perth, we like Quinns Rocks in particular. We have two kids (6 & 3) who should be able to get aussie passports, its just me who has to arrange a partner migration visa. Any tips would be great, I am thinking of having a go myself rather than use an agent? We are aiming to move out there by January 2009

hellooo becky and everyone else,
We are goin on a 457 and did it ourselves and i have to say it wasnt that bad. we decided at easter to up and go, Joe my OH found a sponsored job in May and we had our visas granted on bank holiday monday. We now have our house up for sale and its all getting really real. I am so excited i could pee my pants and so terrified I want to curl up in a corner and howl!!! Joes firm is based in Kewdale and other than that we have no idea about anything!! I spose I'll have to find out as we have 2 kids aged 3 and 6 and need to know where nice areas are and nice schools etc. I have a million Q (Q@s)'s in my head which i will have to ask another day as its 3 am here and i really need to be in bed before the kids start jumping on my head and asking for brekkie in a few hours!! I hope I get to chat to some of you lovely people and Bob in Bull Creek you just seem to have the answer to everything!!! How did you get to be so clever!! Anyway, nitey nite

G'day

Old age and grey hair.

Actually one of the really good things about this forum is that for most people who are looking to emmigrate, their questions are the same ones that have already been asked (and answered) by others. Whilst the process is new to you, most of us have been through it so we know some of the answers because other people told us when we were first starting.

Hi good luck with your visa stuff. We liked quinns rocks because it felt like a relatively new area within easy reach of ammenities etc., close to beach and they are developing a nice marina area nearby. Whilst we were there we visited the school which seemed really good and welcoming of all nationalities and everyone was really friendly. My husband used to live in spearwood near freemantle which I thought was nice to visit but I preffered the suburbs further north. There are a lot of UK families resettling there so everyones in the same boat! What areas have you been thinking of?

Hi Anna
We are aiming for January 2009, to give us time to sell up, sort out my husbands business and be in time for a new school year. Well thats the plan so far! Ocean Reef is nice we rented a house there for a month this year. Quinns Rocks is just a few minutes up the freeway from Ocean Reef. Have you been before? When are you planning to go?
