There must be someone out there, over 30 and under 50 who are not tied down to children and are allowed to play out as couples or for girlies nights out. We have been here for 4 months and love it but I am missing our social life we had in Dubai where we lived.

Hi

So nice to hear from someone who still enjoys going out...my hubby & I are late 30s & we LOVE painting the town red!! We are currently in the UK, but our perminant visas should be here by feb 08...we are so excited & can't wait to get there. I have relatives in Kalleroo & Mullaloo & Freo, so although we do have 3 kids - we sure have a good selection on babysitters there. We would definalty very much like yo join you on a couples night out or just the girls...either way it'l be loadsa FUN !!
We are looking @ properties to rent in the areas i've just mentioned & surrounding suburbs...ocean reef, sorrento, iluka...etc. Have you heard or anyone heard what the infants, junior & senior schools are like in & around those areas ????

Love Jules xx :D

Hi all

Just joined the forum when I read this thread! My house is up for sale after we got our 136 visa in October. So frustrating as we all just want to be there. Anyway....I am 37 and love to go out.....OH is 38 and I can drag him along too if you want! Our kids are a bit bigger so we are allowed out. Would love to meet some happy faces when we get there - we are hoping to settle around Ocean Reef, Mullalloo or thereabouts. It's going to be a real challenge trying to make new friends as we only know one family in Perth and one in Adelaide.

Hi Jo
Thanks for your reply.....yeh we were thinking of organising a rental from the UK from realestate.com.au...however, we've been advised we need to actually see the property rather than just view the photos..so we still don't know what to do. Maybe book a holiday rental for afew weeks while we have a look around? We have family there in Perth but don't really wana impose on there hospitality as we have 3kids !!
Really not sure what to do...?? Why did you have a nightmare with the agents??

Jules.

Hey,

We booked a hotel which turned out to be bloody awful so we were homeless our first morning. We got lucky from the local ads. We rented a newly renovated 3 x 1 house in Heathridge. It was a lovley little home with all new furnishings. Fully equiped with everything including blankets and towels etc. Ideal when your furniture is still in transit! It was expensive at $ 575 a week but ideal. Heathridge is not one fo the better areas ( we were told) but it was perfect for us as it was so near Joondalup train staion and Glens work at the academy. It was also rented direct with the owners who are lovely. Let me know if that suits you and I will find her number.

Hi Jo,
I bet you only live round the corner from me in Ocean Reef. If you are ever in Joondalup, pop by my cafe on Grand Boulevard (next to Westpak) to meet. Just ask for Jane, I am always there and I will buy you a coffee.

We went for loads of houses, one time we were the only ones there, so we put an application form in and still never got it!
Just the luck of the draw,i suppose.
We even offered to pay 6 mths upfront!

Hi Thanks for your reply.....yeh thats sounds like it could help. I'll take the number & if we need to nearer the time we will use it. Thanks for that. Does sound like a nightmare...filling out applications for houses & waiting to see if the owners pick you !!! Just like a job application basically...nerve racking.
Sounds like that's our best option...a holiday rental from the offset.

Thankyou for your advise.

Hi Jane, yes i'm on my own out here. Been here about 5 weeks now. No ties with kids etc but working most weekends at mo which is crippling my non-existent social life from ever starting! If you're ever up for a meet that'd be good. It's just me, no other half, but can drink for two if need be ;) Either that or we could grab a coffee? Likewise, anyone else out there struggling to get started.

Take care,

Julie
