Hi - we're hoping to move across to Perth around Feb time. Can anyone give me details of good High Schools that are SOR. I've seen plenty listed NOR.
Thanks

Have you an idea of the area you may want to move to? Most State Schools require you to live in their area to register your children.
Look at the government site
http://www.det.wa.edu.au/education/
here are links to the various schools & information.
We live in Mandurah & here are sites on the Mandurah/Rockingham area which is SOR

There is a big population of UK people in this area & a lot of the people with families live in the suburbs of Secret Harbour, Baldivis & Port Kennedy
Hope all goes well

Thanks Eve - We're thinking of moving around Port Kennedy, Waikik, Safety Bay area's but will have a better idea when we get across. I guess school will play a big part on where we choose to settle, but are definitely looking SOR.

NOR = North of River, SOR = South of River.
Basically if you live in Secret Harbout & the South end of Port Kennedy then Comet Bay is the local high school. The catchment area for Warnbro HIgh is most of Port Kennedy up to the southside of Gnangarra Drive. If you live in Baldivis then you have the choice of Comet Bay or Warnbro High. I`m not sure about the catchment areas for Rockingham High and Safety Bay though. You can apply to a school even if you live outside the catchment area but the school has no obligation to take you - it is all down to numbers in the end.
Two of the best state high schools are Rossmoyne and Willeton

Hi
Have a look at this for the schools rating, Find a school | ACARA (http://www.myschool.edu.au/) there has been alot of discussion about the ability of this website to give 'meaningfull' feedback on a school, but it should give you a start. You can then have a go with this Education Department of Western Australia - Schools Online (http://www.schoolsonline.det.wa.edu.au/schoolprofile/home.do) once you have come up with a short list i reckon nothing beats the personal recommendations that you are going to get from the people on this site and other forums, they are there and know whats what.
