Hi can anyone who works as a brickie give us a real idea on earnings as we have been given wages from $1000 to $3000 p/w. We have just got the last part of assessment to do ( sorry OH has !) and we are trying to work out how much we will be able to afford in rent ! We have also heard that work is slowing down for Brickies in Perth is this true ?Please help anyone.

We are looking at moving to Perth maybe next year my husband is a brickie and a friend of ours in perth has plenty of work at the moment and the wages he is paying on the books is $300 a day.
Hope this helps.

Hi there,
I was speaking to a semi retired builder in Perth last Sunday to decide whether we would return to Perth. He said there is loads of work, that jobs that should take 3 months, are taking upto 12 months, due to lack of trades.
My husband is a carpenter.
I hope that helps!!

Trades are in desperately short supply - but be warned, there is a massive gas crisis here bricks and blocks are starting to run out - but I think you would be looking at $50 + PH. So, your not far off $2k per wk. I bet you didn't know you get more rain days here than UK though?

Builders are slowing (the big companies) but it will be a while before there are too many brickys.
Anyway if Perth goes slack - just go north, you don`t have to go far and they will rip your arm off to get you up there.
Cheers
John
