...i watched Britains Got Talent tonite and a Scottish man sang this song magnificently!..this is how i feel about Australia and always have...forgive my melancholy moment:rolleyes:
No man, no madness
Though their sad power may prevail
Can possess, conquer, my country's heart
They rise to fail
She is eternal
Long before nations' lines were drawn
When no flags flew, when no armies stood
My land was born
And you ask me why I love her
Through wars, death and despair
She is the constant, we who don't care
And you wonder will I leave her - but how?
I cross over borders but I'm still there now
How can I leave her?
Where would I start?
Let man's petty nations tear themselves apart
My land's only borders lie around my heart
Give me a break!

Sinead O'connor singing nothing compares to you, always makes me weep. Its not the words as such, but I read an interview that said when she made the video where it is just her face in close up for the whole song, the reason she started to cry was because she had just lost her Mum.
Having lost my Mum and my Dad everytime I hear that song now I am in bits :wubclub:
Oh and on a more upbeat note, Oasis "Half the world away" sums up my migration to Aus I reckon!
I would like to leave this city
This old town don't smell too pretty and
I can feel the warning signs running around my mind
And when I leave this island I'll book myself into a soul asylum
And I can feel the warning signs running around my mind
So here I go still scratching around the same old hole
My body feels young but my mind is very old
So what do you say?
You can't give me the dreams that are mine anyway
You're half the world away
Half the world away
Half the world away
I've been lost I've been found but I don't feel down.
So here I go still scratching around in the same old hole
My body feels young but my mind if very old
So what do you say?
You can't give me the dreams that are mine anyway
You're half the world away
Half the world away
Half the world away
I've been lost I've been found but I don't feel down

I have to say that 'London Still' seems to sum me up pretty well. But I'll always turn up the radio when Cold Chisel's 'Flame Trees' plays.

Athlete's "Wires" - Our oldest was born 8 weeks early, she was such a tiny wee thing and those first few weeks were both the best and the worst of my life. We spent 9 weeks in hospital with her and this song came out not long after we'd got her home. It always brings back so many memories...
And the song playing on the radio in theatre when she was born was Maroon 5's "She Will Be Loved" :wubclub::smile:

Newton Faulkner's "if this is it" makes me cry every time and also his "people should smile more". If this is it is mine and my sister's song and needless to say both my sisters are back in the UK:sad: and missed so much!
As part of my whole leaving thing last October we all went together to one of the great and many English music festivals together. Amongst the mud, tents and plastic pint glasses we listened to Newton Singing. The words of "If this is it" talk about a moment being precious.
Even though we wont forget, I dont want this to end just yet.
If I had one chance to stand still and freeze everything I would choose right now..........are just some of the beautiful words.
my time was feeling so short before I left the UK with all the people I loved and I just wanted to freeze everything and maximise every moment - to make everything special! Its still such a bitter sweet feeling and I can remember with crystal clear clarity being in that field and wanting to hold onto everyone around me but knowing that I needed to move on. Love the songs dearly but sometimes they are just a bit too painful. I think it depends on how I am feeling at the time:smile:
