Just had a quote for shipping my useless excuse for a dog.
£1970.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in case you didn't get that:
£1970.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for a f@*king dog!
And to add insult to injury, this DOESN'T include vaccinations, chipping, quarantene and pick up charges.
So all in, we're realictically looking at more than £2,500.00.
Still in shock, might have to pop to the shrink, for therapy.
p.s. for a fckin dog!!
Thats just the start of it our cost was £2500 for our mut.. so your is not to bad..
Rich
Starting to think I got off lightly now with £1,330 for our cat who is 14 and will probably eat something poisonous and croak it within her first week out of quarantine!

Just thought I'd ask, what sort of dog is it. The reason I ask is because we had until recently a white german shepherd/lab cross and we was quoted just over £3,000 inc of everything except quaranteen at other end.
We had a long chat about this and even though it really broke our hearts re have rehomed her. Our dog was quite a nervous dog, so taking her for an 18 hour flight was not an option, as this would have traumatised her. She was only 2 years old, so rehoming wasn't a problem and we managed to find a fantastic family for her and so has settled so well. This has been the hardest thing to do so far, and we haven't even had the farewell party yet with all the family.
We do also have 3 cats but like to the dog, we are going to rehome them all, as you will also find the a high percentage of rentals out in Oz will not allow pets, so that makes things for difficult.
We are all cried out now, and we are all so happy for the animals with the new homes they have, becuase if their happy then so are we. Is this something you could consider?
I did a poll on www.emi-great.com about how many people did not take their pets and the percentage was higher than the ones that did. Hope this helps a little, nothing is easy in this emigrating lark, but it will all be worth it in the end.
Take care :D

Thank you so much for this. Indecision is such a stressful experience.
We thought this week, we'd finally made up our minds to take the dog. I've booked him in now. Then, mother turns up for a few days yesterday, and has told us in no uncertain terms we must be mad.
£2,500.00, being restricted on a rental and running the added risk of expense if things don't work out and we need to come home.
I'm sure my youngest who's 4 will be fine. It's my 7 year old I worry about.
It's really tempting to leave him with my uncle, and see how the land lies when we get there. Trouble is, if we do this and decide we want the dog out there, it's around a 4 month process to see him.
Decisions, decisions. :(
Hi,
me and my OH have spent a long time umming and ahhing about taking our dog and cats and have decided we're taking them. it means we have to wait a few extra months to get the money needed together, but I dont want to get there, start a new life and then regret leaving my pets behind. Other than leaving the family, this is the toughest choice to make, and i have lots of sympathy for everyone having to make it
I've read so many posts on the pomsinoz site about this and everybody is different, and their situations are also different. good luck with whatever you decide.
