Hi

We hope to be moving to Secret Harbour in November 08. I've heard the 2 Secret Harbour primaries are good, but does anyone know if they are full and if you have to go on a waiting list to get in, or is automatic entry if you are in their catchment.

We've also been checking out private schools in the areas of Mandurah and Rockingham and other places for my 6 year old to start in Feb 09. There seems to be waiting lists for all of the schools!

Does anyone know how long the average waiting list is, and how difficult is it to get your child in.

We would like our children to go to the Secret Harbour schools because we want to feel part of the community, and there would be more chance of their friends living close by.

Cheers!
Helga

We tried to get our boy into Freddy Irwin and was told there was a list as long as your arm to get in. That was in all years. We got the same answer at the private school at Lakelands.

He's at the South Halls Head primary school and loves every minute of it.

You may find that schools may not accept an application for entry until you have an address. Particularly at popular schools they may operate to a catchement area. We were able to enrol our children in school before we arrived as we had secured a rental, however, we had to confirm our address on the first day of term, show our passports and visa etc.,

we visited comet bay primary .... it was a lovely school ( new ) with avery nice feel. For that school there is a catchment area basically one half of secret harbour the other school has the other half. We were told spaces wouldnt be an issue at Mandurah Baptist and Tranby. We did however place an application at Kolbe ( they took our money and have never been heard from since) i do think the years you are after make a huge difference...we i suppose were lucky as year 9 has been redated which has made for a small year hence spaces available then your other child goes straight to the top of the waiting.

there is a lot of choice which isn't always a good thing:cool:
