Hello everyone,

I'm new to this site so please bear with me! lol. We are a family of 5 (myself 32, husband 31, and three boys aged 11, 6 and 8 months). We are moving to Perth end of August and have a holiday let for the first 6 weeks. I was wondering if anyone knew of any rentals coming up end of sept/start of october? Would preferably be a 4+2 with a pool, any northern suburbs would be considered up to $500 a week. I have been having a look at rentals etc on the net, but there doesn't seem to be many with pools, are these few and far between? My boys are stressing the importance of a pool to me!! Any help or info would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Also was wondering if there were any females out there who would like to meet up for a nightout now and again? I don't know how I'm going to live without my nightouts with the girls, I need to recharge my batteries from my testosterone filled house! ;-)

Hi and welcome to Perth Poms!!

I can't help you with the rental as I am not over there yet but i'm sure the guys on here will help as much as they can, they have been a great help with any queries I have had.

I can help with out with the night out situation though when we arrive about October time (all going well with visa ofcourse). I have a 2 year old toddler who is well and truly into his terrible 2's so will definitely be needing to recharge my batteries from time to time also!

I hope everything goes well with your move and please keep us posted on how you get on with your house hunt!!

I've heard a lot of Aussies don't actually like the hassle of having to maintain a pool. And the closer to the city the less likely the house will have (room for) a pool. Best thing to do is keep plugging away on the rental websites and see what's available.
A pool was on our list of things to look for in a house, in the end it went in a compromise for being closer to the city. The beach is only 20 mins away from most places...

Hi guys!

Thanks for the responses, that's brill about the nightout (us mums need to hang up our mum titles for the night now and again). Baz6679 - that would be great to meet up, where are you'se moving to first when you'se land? We are going to Ridgewood in a holiday let for 6 weeks, would be good to meet up seeing as we're all about the same age. :-)

Hey hotphil, thanks for the reply. Ye it seems further north you go the more chance of pools, we're not too fussed about living near the city. Husband works offshore so we're quite happy to move further north. Thanks for the advice tho guys. Really appreciated.

Don't forget when you have Kids or even not ... you can buy great inflatable pools with pumps and chlorine etc we have a massive one up in summer and down in winter great fun .. though here they have to be fenced off by law so if your in a rental maybe worth seeing what the gardens are like if there is a fenced area, some do .. also room needed for that Trampolene and much needed undercover area !!http://www.clarkrubber.com.au/pools/childrens-pools/inflatable-pools.html

Hi there I just saw your thread and had to reply - I have just heard today my husband has got a job in perth and he starts 1 Sept - all happened very quickly ie in 24hrs from interview to offer - have been looking at rentals and trying to work out whether to ship stuff over or just put in storage here as we will rent our house out non furnished - I would love a pool and our budget is the same as yours - no idea of which suburb either but needs to be within commuting distance to hubbys job - all rather confusing - would love to stay in contact as would like girls nights out as Im gonna miss my girlfriends here

Hi Girls,

I have same request from 9 year old - and I'll be heading for the inflatable pool too!

I'm also up to ninety, busily packing boxes, renting out house and have tickets booked for 1st September out of Dublin. Can't wait. Very excited but anxious too. Have Aisling booked into Banksia Grove Catholic Primary School and would love a night out with you all when we get there.

have a good trip

Hi guys,

Sorry I haven't been in touch sooner, everythings been a bit manic! But that's our stuff now been collected and hopefully on it's way to Oz next week. We fly out on 26th of this month, so not looking forward to having three kids on a flight that long esp the youngest one (9 months) but am sure we'll cope. Anyways please keep in touch and as soon as I manage it, once we get to Perth....I'll get this nightout arranged. Oh and remember girls, if any of your hubbys/partners fancy a pint, my husband will be dying to get some peace away from me by then!.

Speak soon,

Kelly

Hi,
Have you looked on Gumtree in Perth? We found our rental through that, it is rented privately, I prefer it to using an agent. We are on the move again in Nov though. We have a pool and my husband hates it, they take a LOT of looking after! I love it in the summer though as do the kids.
