Anyone take their pets? Is it correct that quarantine's 1 month? Did you use a company or do it direct with an airline? Was your pet okay after the journey? How much did you have to fork out including quarantine? We're looking to take 3 cats and 2 dogs! :?:
Hi, i checked the quarantine time and it's 30 days. We arent applying till for another 18 months but i've started getting approx guides on the amount we'll need for everything and also documents from mine and my OH's eduaction/qualifications.... they are all over the place, he isnt very organised! would love to apply now, but we really need to save as much as we can before we leave. We have 1 dog and 4 cats to bring over....£2500 ish approx for the mutt and £1300 approx each for the cats....ouch!!
I'm sure there is someone who can give you exact amounts. Good luck!

Thanks Hays. Had no idea it was that much!!!! That's extortionate. Will definitely need to do some shopping around. Maybe direct with the airline is cheaper.
I know this is an old post - but as an addition - we brought our 15 year old cat with us. We used a company called pets on the move because they had a local franchise. It cost us £1,300, they picked Becky up at our home, took her to the vet for her fitness to fly certificate and also took her to the airport. Becky survived the flight (hubby said she probably had more leg room than us) and was very well cared for by the staff at Byford, she was healthy and hadn't lost any weight when we collected her ... although she did seem slightly peed off at us for having left her for a month.
If you are thinking of bringing your pet do plan early. Byford isn't a big quarentine station and when we first made enquires for Becky in August last year the first available date was December - they do book up very early.

Hi Ali, can you tell me what the traveling time is roughly between you and byford? Also did the £1300 include fees on Perth side? i mean, do they charge you for the month's lodgings so to speak!

Hi All
We brough our dog out cost us an arm & a leg, there was not enough room here in Perth so she had to fly from London to Sydney then do her 30 days there and then fly on to Perth at our extra cost so i would book early we used a company called par air they were ok Our total cost was about 3000 pounds>>:o Not cheap
Rich..
It took us about 30 - 40 mins but then again we weren't quite sure where we were going. We paid about $360 this end, can't remember what the breakdown was, but know that part of that was that they had to pick her up from the airport outside office hours. We were really pleased with UK end and the staff at Byford.

thanks Ali, so we're looking at $1650 ish for each cat all in. Definitly only bringing the two youngest ones then!
Cats have had a bit of bad press on pomsinoz, have you heard anything bad around Perth? or is it just melbourne that takes cats that seriously?

I know that they worry cats harm the wildlife but not seen any problems or bad press, our local vets has the usual cat and dog posters up about health care and not letting them get too fat etc., but no kind of warning posters e.g. don't let your cat do this or that. Certainly no cat curfew which is what worried me.
