Hi I am new to this site, and was hoping someone could give me some advice on Tax File Numbers.
I have noticed that most people have jobs lined up before leaving for OZ.
I have been told that I can't get a TFN while still here in the Uk, and when I do apply it will take about 28 days to come through!

I can't honestly remember how long mine took to come through but I'm sure it wouldn't be as long as 28 days....??

Thanks for your reply, i visited the link you sent me, having read the text it seems i am unable to apply without being in Australia:(.

It's frustrating as i am coming on a spouse visa and would like to work asap.

Hi

It rarely takes more than a few days for your Tax File Number to arrive so I wouldnt envisage you having to wait long. You can probably apply for jobs prior to it arriving so long as you have confirmation that you have applied for it.
