Hi Guys
Please dont shoot me down for asking this, I have been trying to get as much info about Perth as possible but I have come across several sites saying that Perth has a very high crime rate, muggings, burgulary etc. Is this true and is it as bad as the UK.
Thanks
Lee

Whilst its no Disneyland I would say you are pretty safe here. Because so little happens they tend to really over sentaionalise when something does happen. Initially I thought why have I come here, its as bad as UK, but its not, nowhere near. You can walk the streets, you can go to footy and even though everyone is passionate, the fans are mixed and there is no trouble. Things make the headlines here that may not even make a one liner in your local rag. Its not perfect here but much btter than UK, in my opinion, as far as crime and violence goes anyway.

Greg is right! Everyone who is mugged, hit or is unfortunate enough to be killed is in the news in WA. There isn`t enough pages for the UK
Its a population thing!
Cheers

Hi Guys
Many thanks for your comments.

Yes there's crime here, but have agree with the others - it makes news and everyone thinks "how awful" and is shocked rather than "oh another stabbing". My local area's crime is a few thefts - they're printed in the local free newspaper everyweek and honestly take up only a small paragraph for the whole of Melville City.
