Hi,
Me and my better half are looking for somewhere to rent in Perth for 3 months or more in November. We are on a tight budget and wondered if anyone could make some suggestions. We've emailed a few places we've seen but they never seem to reply.
Cheers Jamie

G'day
Short term accomodation is fairly expensive. What sort of budget are you on? What part of Perth are you looking to be in?

Not too concerned about a particular area, as long as it isn't the bronx! Our Budget is around $250 a week and were pretty flexible, we know we wont get a palace. Just need some where to call home for 3-6 months while we decide if we wanna come to Perth on a more permenant basis.
Cheers for the advice on our other posts bob!

Don't think you will find anywhere furnished for a short stay for $250 a week. Maybe an onsite van in a caravan park or a chalet might be worth looking into.

I think you'll be be struggling BIG time trying to get a short term rental at that price. Even at 250 pounds per week ($625) and you wouldn't find it easy.
Do you have family or friends you could stay with? Otherwise you might need to look at renting a 1 bedroom flat for a year at around $200/week and buying / renting some furniture then trying to get someone to take over your lease when you want to move out. The other suggestion of a caravan might be the way to go.

We found a few flats/units for $200-$250 a week on 6 month terms, but they never get back to us. I think to sort something before we arrive would mean looking at the holiday let market which is really expensive. Wish i hadn't decided to take a year off work to finish my degree and concerntrated on making a big pile of cash to bring now!!!

The way the rental market is at the moment Property managers don't need to go chasing for tenants, Prospective tenants out weigh available properties. Maybe get a short term rental until you can secure something more permanent and cheaper.

Prob best book into a hotel and look when we arrive then. Are there people letting properties privately in the local press too like in uk?

People do advertise privately in various papers. Try The West Australian,
Sunday Times, Quokka, also some suburbs have a local newpaper that comes out weekly which you can pick up in newagents or deli's.
www.wotif.com.au is a website for holiday accommodation.
Good luck.
