My first post here is to say to you all. OH and I are hoping to get to Perth asap. We are just trying to gather information for TRA so early days yet. We have two boys ages 10 n 6 and they are a bit unsure about moving. I have relations in Rockingham and in Canning Vale but unsure of where to locate to. My OH is a BT Engineer and we are trying to work out what jobs he can go for over in Perth. All suggestions welcome. We currently live in Grangemouth Scotland.

I hope we can teach each other a lot on this site.

take care all xxx

Hi & Welcome :D

We have three boys 15, 10 & 6 and are hopefully headed out to Perth next July.

Hubby has relatives in Safety Bay & Waikiki, Rockingham :)

Good luck with the TRA - it's the worst part of the whole process and it feels SO good once its done and sent off!

Kind regards
Karen x

G'day Franny

Welcome to the site :) It's a fairly quiet place, but friendly and helpful nevertheless.

I can't really make any suggestions on the job front, but good luck with it anyway.

With housing, it's such a personal choice and usually dictated or limited by your budget. Perth has quite a wide variety of suburbs and there is definately differences in the lifestyle between some of the urban areas (Northbridge, Subi, Freo) and the suburban areas. Perth has pretty much grown each year, so generally the nearer you are to the city centre, the older and more established things are. The further you are from the city, the new and less established things are. With the really new areas, it can take time before things like shops, schools, public transport, pubs, doctors are in the area. However, the new areas can be cheaper and there is the emotional appeal of having a house built to suit your plans.

Canning Vale is a lovely area (only about 5Klm from Bull Creek) and Rockingham is nice too. In fact Perth probably doesn't have any area that you'd need to avoid, just that if you had more options financially you'd pick somewhere better.
