17 year old. Started College (UK)

Hi all could anyone let me know what options are open to my son who will be 18 when we get to Perth, he will have completed 2 years at college studying advanced diploma in mechanical engineering & technology, what will his options be when we get to Perth, I am trying to convince him it is better for him to come to Perth than stay in UK. No jobs or apprenticeships in the field he wants to work. I feel that Australia has so much more to offer, that just need some more info to put to him. Thanks in advance for any replies, Sharon.

The Central Institute of Technology in perth does a Diploma in mechnical Engfineering , have a look at their website.

      http://www.central.wa.edu.au/courses...ult.aspx?sa=ZK

Alternatively if he has already done some of his course , he might beable to get some credits and complete his course at University. He can always approach ECU
Edith Cowan University) I hope this is of some help.

      regards
      Sunny

WA also has Murdoch Uni, University of Western Australia, Notre Dame and Curtin Universities - so lots to go at. I know that my friends daughter came over with her A level results and got into UWA - so the diploma may convert.

Thanks Wooster, I keep telling him this but he is refusing to listen, cannot get an apprenticeship in uk within 200 miles of home. I just need to convince him he will be better of in OZ..

he would be better to move over, am 16 and realised that i am lucky to have the opportunity to move over, as the schools and colleges are much better and that the have one of the lowest unemployment :) so he would be more likley to get into college or straight into a job

Thanks for all your input guys.. George has decided to come over initially for 6 months but he has said that he will go to college if he can't get a job. I think 6 months timeline is his way of dealing with leaving people behind. We are hoping to go to Baldivis, Wellard, Mandurah areas. Anyone else going down this way? Sharon.xx

      Hi
Hi were heading over in August, going to be staying in Leeming initially with friends. We have an 18 year old who will have finished college and hoping to go to University, so maybe they should start chatting, Im sure he will be okay but I know it is just another worry...along with all the other hundred worries....but ims sure it will be worth it. We feel that there has to be more opportunities for our children ans this is the key factor in us moving to Oz.. good luck
