      Education Dilemma any advice ?

      Hi All,
My daughter is 15 and is currently in her GCSE year of school here in the UK. My question and dilemma is.. should we stay in the UK until she has completed her exams in June or should we move over for Feb for her to get into the Oz system where she will start year 11?
Has anybody else taken their child out at such a crucial time in their schooling? Just don't know what to do for the best!

If it was me and I was planning a long term move to Australia I would start sooner rather than later. Year 11 and 12 are the WACE years and if she misses 6 months, that may be hard to get back. Just my opinion of course. Tough decision and a truly awful age to move children.

I'd agree with Arwen, my daughter is 16 and just completed year 11, it's been a very important year with 2 lots of exams during the year, and as Arwen suggests the WACE certificate is a 2 year course with children having to complete 20 units. GCSE's don't count for anything really, although my friends daughter got into Uni here on the basis of her A level results.

Thank you very much for your advice, I really appreciate your opinions. To be honest that is what I wanted to hear! I just felt very guilty for distrupting such a crucial time of her life !

Hi Ali, can I ask you what month your daughter was 16. i'm trying to work out what year my son would be in when we move over in September, he was 16 in October. We've decided to let him finish his GCSEs here as I thought maybe he would be able to go back a year to do his WACE certificate but I'm not sure if it would work like that.
      Thanks :-)

My daughter was 16 in Feb (she'll be almost 18 when she leaves school). She has friends in her year that have October birthdays. I know there's a TAFE pathway into Uni and I think murdoch offers a pathway - putting a couple of links on for you. I know my daughter in year 11 had quite a few assignments and also two lots of exams during the year this year and assume it will be the same next year.
