There are couple of really good state primary schools in the immediate Claremont/Nedlands area, but not a state high school. For a list of district schools, have a look at www.australianschoolsdirectory.com.au. Shenton College in Shenton Park has a very good reputation. There are some very good private schools nearby. Christchurch Grammar in Claremont, Scotch College in Swanborne (both boys) and PLC in Claremont (girls).
depends how much you want to spend! State schools are great - Nedlands primary is double stream (two classes for each year) and has a good music programme. Other state schools within 5 kilo. Dalkeith Primary, Hollywood, Mount Claremont- all good. Large majority of the students go on to private high schools - which cost about $15,000 plus a year. For boys - Christ Church Grammar or Scotch, girls - MLC, PLC, St Hildas - all topping the league tables. Then you have Catholic schools - Catholic primary in and around Nedlands - St Thomas and Loreto. They cost about $5,000 a year and will take non Catholics. John XXIII College takes boys and girls from PrePrimary through to Year 12 so the whole family could go there - if you could get in! It's the top ranking Catholic school in the State, and only private co-ed school near Nedlands. Shenton College is the Govt high school - great results and in the top 15 school in the state, along with the private schools in the league tables and doesn't cost anything.
Two private primarys - Morelina, and Quintilian - bit alternative but OK. Nedlands is the 4th most expensive suburb to live in terms of property values in WA so schools tend to be OK.
