ali
I like how they're both a little different, I do love the 'feel' of PP - it feels quite intimate, where as PIO is sometimes like a school playground lol Do you post on both? Do you have a different user name? Ali
Sideshowdeb
I'm amazed how different they are, and to be honest I find PIO a bit intimidating. The kindness and support shown on PP restores my faith in human nature. I have the same username for everything I need a username for. I think I'm the same online as I am in person, so I don't feel the need for anonymity some people do, I'd be quite happy just to use my name, but it's so common it's usually already in use. Nancy
Hi Ali I post on both I would say for a while I posted more on pio only for the fact I felt I got to know a few of the members and they have been lovely...and the difference when your feeling at your worst there's always somebody there to cheer you up.. And I love hearing about their goings on and updates..pp seems to be a bit slower...but genuinely feels more homely and more of a community Think there would be some great people that would be a great asset from from pio to join pp.some of the people it got to know on here have just disappeared.. Feel like if been off for a few weeks and don't know anybody...x
kookylittlestar
I have a different username on PIO, mainly because I didn't really think about it properly when I found it and I found that site first. I'm not sure if I can change it now. I use PP daily and PIO every other day or so. I like this site more as more of the posts are relevant to me. . .and there is less Perth bashing lol. Akasully2
I can't get on with PIO. The info is so widely spread and I find the tone of many of the replies to be sarcastic or confrontational. Even some of the threads were weird, something about knocking one out or satisfying your woman. I thought I was on specialist site! Love PP. Feel like I have wandered into the pub/ tea shop and met up with a lot of mates from college. A good old natter with info and friendly banter. My OH says I'm addicted! True. I hope I have the same need to come on it once I'm actually there! I can be the wise old owl passing knowledge onto the UK hopefuls. As as for user names, mine are different but only because I forgot what the old one was for POI that did ages ago. Also, the user name I have on here was a bit of a mistake. I must have rushed it and entered this one in one box, thinking I would choose something snappy for my user name later. Hey ho, stuck with it now. If I could change it I would but then no one would know it was me! Edited February 16, 2014 by Akasully2 Spelling
nikkiwd
I used to go on POI more often during the visa process but hardly go on nowadays. PP is more of a community and you feel like you get to know everyone as there are less members, the posts are more relevant being that all the users are in/going to/hoping to go to WA. I find there are a lot of negative posts on POI at times
travelchic
I go on both and use the same name. I like the friendliness of this site. I do laugh at some of the posts on PIO though. I think there's a lot more available info on PIO but I think that's due to the amount of people on it. I didn't go on PIO for a while because there seems to be a few posters that aren't friendly. There's only a couple of people who are sometimes unfriendly on this site and I don't see them posting too often. I really like the posters on this site. jo and scott
I have also joined pio but only went on a few times. I much prefer pp :-) xx
Nikkis2000
I have never been on PIO mainly due to the negative press it's had. Through the visa process I found all the info I needed on here and I have met some genuinely nice people on here. The comments above are true it does feel like a community. I haven't contributed very much in recent weeks, mainly down to the lack of a decent broadband connection but an update is on it's way soon!! Guest guest9824
Don't post on PIO but do read some of it! There are some characters on there... Travelchic, I love your avatar on there, makes me laugh! Pablo sounds sound...and Paul and Debs avatars are always very good. I liked the last one with Eric 'the god' Cantona with seagulls flying round his head, very good! Someone on there called Fensaddler (think that's what they are called) give a very balanced view of thing, most of the time. Glad PP gets a good write up! p.s Tink seems lovely I did at one stage think that FOC was someone on this forum. portlaunay
There are a few forums where I have the same name but because I have such a poor memory I have to 'theme' things like passwords and usernames. For example, all of my usernames are always the names of beaches I love. After our social last week I did go back into PIO but my last post on there was in 2011. Different forums serve different needs and my Aussie need is satisfied by PP so I don't really have any inkling to use PIO. Life's too short for petty bickering, I have enough of that with two children and I really feel sorry for some of the people on PIO, they just seem so bitter. I really should have a clean up of my forums folder in my bookmarks, I'm not sure there's a place for the London Beekeeper's Forum any more
verystormy
I post on both with the same user name. Fat prefer PP as there are far to many morons on PIO. It was such a shame last week that after persuading one of the most distinguished members who had given up PIO and PP due to abuse recieved on PIO and some of persuaded to come back, was abused again within days and i think now wont come back to either

Bibbs
I'm on both, I tend not to post much over there outside of the IT job thread, and the occasional Perth thread. There are a few vocal people on there that I don't like, and I CBA with the more chatty side as my views seem to be the opposite of a lot of people and I just get ignored or have daft replies, so why bother?! Don't mind here, but I only input into threads where I might be able to help or my views would be considered.
Rossmoyne
I am a member of both sites but prefer PP by far as it is a much more friendly site. The majority of posters on PIO are great, but there is also a small group of bitter unhappy tossers who take great delight in being nasty and thereby ending some very good threads as no-one wants to be targeted by the spiteful bitchiness, as happens too frequently. I post less and less on PIO these days, especially on the migration threads as my knowledge is out of date and I don't think I can be as helpful as I used to be. Oh and I have the same username on both sites....didn't see the point of having two identities .... I am what I am.!!! Keep up the great work PerthPoms..... you are a great community!! SaffanZimbo
I am registered on both but found that PIO was great for the visa process as there was a PIO 176 Loged in June 2012 group through which we all helped each other get through the visa process and we felt like a family at time! However, we all went out seperate ways shortly after the visa grants as not all members were headed to WA so I found I was using PP more. The PP moderators are awesome and always make an effort to give a balanced view so that its a realistic answer (not always what we may want to hear but definitely what we need to hear at times! I find PP much friendly as a whole tbh and the information is brilliant as it is often from those who are living in areas we are considering moving to (i.e. Ali ) and their inside information is invaluable. 29 weeks to go until OH flies to Perth and fingers crossed he will find work quickly so that the girls and I can follow before Christmas! ali
Such lovely comments about PP and to know we're doing something right - whilst I love that we're getting bigger, I don't want to lose our intimate feel. I love logging in to PP, as mods we have very little to do because everyone is so well behaved lol

Porty the membership will grow and grow and I don't think that people will drop off in loads once they get to Perth. I know that happens on PIO, but we are such a great community and as supportive on the ground in Perth as we were in the journey from thinking about emigrating through to actually getting here. PP will grow and thrive - sure of it!!

Give me a break!
I'm on both but tend to post more on PIO now. I don't seem to really know many people here now and never got round to saying hello up in Perth ( my fault! ) I'm Que Sera, Sera on PIO . Long boring story for change of name but this site was was a lot smaller at the time.
