      You can keep the mines!

Hi guys, just had to tell someone! we've been in Perth WA for 3 weeks now, Found a lovely place up in the hills walked into the local mall sorted house phone, mobile phone and internet contracts within 30 mins, My wife has been offered a part time job cooking a BBQ on a boat that sails to Rottnest island and I've been offered a job in my local garage just 3 minuets walk from our new home! SOME ONE PINCH ME!

After all the horror stories we have read about rentals, phone contracts and jobs being so hard to come-by. All I can say is in our experience, come over with the right frame of mind, be willing to chat and put yourself out a little and Australia will offer you so much! And did you know theres "mates rates" on everything here! our food and drink bill has fallen by 30% just by befriending our local show owners :)

Only thing that's a little perplexing is "Christmas songs" in 37c heat! very strange!!!

      All the best

So glad its all falling into place, It gets really tedious trying to fight our corner when people are doom and gloom. Most of the people I know have found work almost imedietly especially if they are prepared to step out of their comfort zone. My OH had two job offers before we even left the UK and Ive been offered 3 jobs since Ive been here, turned them all down because I dont want to work yet but thats by the by. We found our rental within a week of moving here and moved in a week later, my Oh decided on a place just 10 minutes down the road. You do have the right frame of mind, be flexible and open and willing to go that extra mile and it will reward you, and try and turn negatives into positives wherever possible and it will all turn out good. Good on ya mateys and long may it continue for you. (by the way floating two and from Rottnest all day doesnt sound like work to me!)

Yeah thats the key! had to write a positive post. When we were in the UK looking at the posts a large majority seemed to have a downer on the place and that really doesn't do it justice. My wife has been dancing around the place for a few days now! and like you said "That's not a job" that's a Sunday afternoon passtime :) lol

You've just put a real big smile on my face. Well done to the both of you, this ^ is so true. We came here with exactly this attitude and I still can't believe how things have fallen into place for us.

This may the wrong place to say this and I'll duck for cover but the old adage of the whinging pom has been something I've experienced so often here and it's such a shame. I think if you put yourself out, have a positive attitude and stop bloody whinging you can get on so well here.

I really hope it keeps going this way for you, have an epic new life in Perth, dude.

Thanks for sharing this - we're due to fly out on 30th December. Finished work yesterday, and the sorting out, packing has begun! You've put a smile on my face this morning and I am really looking forward to our new life in Perth.

Good to hear its going well. Christmas is a bit surreal at first with the heat, I was used to shopping with a big coat, hood up, scarf up to my eyes and my gloves on, here its shorts, T.shirts and thongs

I was speaking to a friend on Facebook chat back in England and she said something like time to get the mince pies out, and for a split second I was thinking why on earth are you making mince pies in the middle of summer its no where near Christmas ! and thats after nearly 18 months lol, and then when you throw in Christmas in July and the weather is colder, well it just plays with your mind
