navy wives in oz- whats it really like?!

hi all, im new here but thought id post! we are going thru the process of relocating, hubby is a submariner and hoping too join the australian navy, but what is it really like from a wives perspective? we have 2 kids and will be looking for married housing or equivilent in rockingham i suppose is where the subs are based!? lol any advice welcome thank you!! xx

We are in the same boat my OH has applied, TOS and awaiting labour agreement. I have some friends already over in perth who went over with navy and they seem to be loving it but I do worry a little as we have 3 small children and really them settling will make all the difference. I'm feeling a little bit nervous as I've never been away from family before but i suppose you don't know till you try it.
We are looking at rockingham area for MQ's as it seems to be close to OH work and nice beaches/secret harbour.
have you applied yet??
