Tips on how to get over jet lag?

Have been in this time zone 10 days and still am waking in the middle of the night for like three to four hours. I have tried everything from going to bed early/late to not sleeping during the day eventhough shattered to getting up early in the morning and nothing is working.

My OH has even tried tablets recommended by pharmacist but awoke 3 hours after taking them with a pain in his head?

      Please help?

Must admit second time round we used the sleeping pills I had been prescribed for not sleeping due to my back & it kicked us over straight into Oz time. First trip I suffered for days.

      Hope you get sorted soon.

There's a tablet called restavit you can get without prescription at a chemist that I've used as a sleep aid. I only need to take a quarter of one and I get a full night of rest. As with any medication though talk to a pharmacist/doctor about it before taking it!

For me, I wake up "early" each day compared to when I was in the UK. But I managed to rationalise it a bit once I worked out that it's so much brighter "earlier" here. It's kind of like the whole daily routine has shifted a bit. Instead of having a few hours after work to do things before it gets dark, that time is in the morning. If you have a look out and about from 06:00 onwards, there's so many people out and about it's amazing.

      hi there,
if it's light that early can you tell me what time it gets dark at and roughly how long does the jet lag feeling last ?
we have been as far as mexico, usa and canada and always felt the jet lag on our return to the uk and was generally ok on our holiday but to these destinations we were gaining time. We have never been to australia and the clocks are obviously ahead of the uk so should we prepare ourselves for lots of jetlag ? thamks

When I've arrived in Perth on previous trips, it's usually about 3 days in that the jet lag kicks in. Lasts a few days and then eases off. It gets dark very early as far as the clock goes - sunset tonight is 19:22

I felt like dogpoo for the first four days we had in Singapore. We then went to Sentosa and I went on both of the Battlestar Galactica rides, one after the other and it took me to a whole new level of awfulness.

I don't recommend it but I was right as rain after an hour and no more jetlag!

One big tip I've found - get the flight that lands in Perth late Friday afternoon. You only have to stay awake for a few hours before it's the weekend and you can get your body sorted over the weekend.
