      Hi Tomo

HGV Licence is a HR licence here in Perth and as far as I am aware you would have to take the HR course here as HGV is not recognised. The course is about $850 depending on who you train with and may be less as you are not a beginner, there are quite a few companies that do it all over Perth.

There are always tons of jobs in the weekend paper for HR drivers and also try this link (not sure if it works you may need to copy and paste it into browser)
      http://www.seek.com.au/JobSearch?Dat...ver&state=3107

There are lots of jobs in Perth and I know a few guys that drive the road trains on the mines etc which is better money but more hours etc

      Hope this helps

      Hi Tomo

With regards to the licencing in WA hav a look at this link it will explain all of the licence categories for you type of licence. Ie if you have a class 2 (C) licence in the UK it is similar to a WA HR (Heavy Rigid) if you have a class 1 (C+E) then it is similar to a HC (Heavy Combination) in Aus.

I am a group operations director of Driver Hire who you will probably know in the UK as we have c100 offices across the country, myself and my partner fly out to Perth in November to open an office in Perth specialising in Logistics recruitment. Plus a non driving division soecialising in non driving work.

I am happy to assist in any way possible with your questions.

One thing you will be glad with about driving commercially in Aus is there are no digi cards, tachos are a foreign language and WTR in regards to our EU/561 2006 is non existant. They do have a thing called fatigue management but POA and Other Work mean nothing to Aus rules.

Oh and another thing, Drivers CPC will never happen in Aus.

Basically you can work longer hours, only record breaks, a simple timesheet to monitor your hours and be paid a pension even when working as a casual employee.
      Regards,
      Dean & Margaret Ann

Thank you for the reply, yeah I no driver hire very well the branch in Birmingham, I have worked for them and the lads there helped me land a permanent job, if it's the drive hire I'm thinking about, and having not tacho well it will mean I can actually get some driving done

I'm thinking sbout immigrating to WA within the next few years so hopefully all going well I'll be driving in Oz.

Just another quick question I have both cat C and C+E I just wondered what kind of tests id have to do to convert it to an Oz licence? I've heard it a 10 question test in which you have to get 8 right, and how much would it cost ?? Any advice would be much apricated. And thank you again for the reply

      Hi Tomo

It is the same Driver Hire yes as the one in Birmingham they are part of our group. With regards to the test etc, you would need a new medical as well as passing the test. I am not sure what you would need to do with regards to the test and I am sure by the time you arrive it will have changed anyway.

If you look on the WA Transport link I sent you there is a section on tests but this is more about either upgrading your australian licence or upgrading your classification.

      Hi Daz

Thanks for your post, you would need to change your licence upon arrival in WA to be able to drive commercial vehicles here. The main problem would be getting you in to WA on a visa as drivers are not on the skills shortage list.

If you have family here you may be able to get sponsorship through them but you would need to seek advice from the dept of immigration or an agent as we cannot give any immigration advice.

If you are under the age of 30 then you can apply for a 417 working holiday visa which will give you the right to work for 6 months with us at our clients although again you would need to convert your driving licence.

If you want to email me at perth@driverhire.com.au I can send you a brief overview on how to go about converting your licence.

I wish you good luck and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact me and it will be my pleasure to assist where possible.

      Dean & Margaret Ann
