what are our chances?

hi all just wanted some advice really im australian and lived most of my life in the uk and my partners got a partner visa and is currently working for the royal mail would he be able to work for the post in oz and what was the pay like? i myself have been in customer service roles from retail management to working in the banking sector for the last 10 years! how easy is it to get a job now in perth? i was there a few years ago but i know its all changed now! were gonna take the pluge and go back but we have 2 young children to think about too so any help would be great! thanks x

Sorry i dont have an answer to your query but i was reading your post and you are in the exact same situation as me.....my husband is an australian citizen but has lived here in scotland all his life, he worked for royal mail for 12 years and now works for parcel force. I work in insurance dong customer service and we have a little girl, age 4. We will be arriving in perth on 23 july and im a bit worried about work and how easy it will be to get work.

weve still havent got dates yet to when we can go, only just put our house on the market so it all depends how quick it sells really! yeah our little girl is four too! where thinking of kingsley and suburbs around there, because i used to live in hillarys and the boat harbour was fantastic! but it all depends on the schools and jobs really so going to rent somewhere short term and look around! can i ask how long did it take to get your visa? and are you having all your furniture shipped over? what kind of prices do they range from if you know? i know im a little worried about jobs too but i quess its worth a try out there!

I was looking at hillarys as my mum and dad love it there but its a bit pricey for us. We have family in banksia grove, they have recommended clarkson, butler, quinns rock and surrounding areas.

I done my visa through an agent as I didn't know where to start, started it in April and got visa through end of November. We have until 29 July to enter oz, we are leaving here on 20 July just to save up some more money...that scares me too as we will only be going over with approx £15k as our house has lost profit so we are just renting it out...not much money to start a new life :o(
I have a company coming on wed to quote me for shipping everything over, I will let u know what they quote me x x

yeah its so strange were both in the same situation weve also got about 15k and our house has also lost some of its profit! so renting ours out too! but looking to go at the end of the year now just gives us a bit more time to save a little more! can i ask what the agents do? and what steps you went through hopefully well be ok doing ours ourselves! yeah my family live in hillarys theres some houses for $450-$500 but not as nice as some of the other suburbs u mentioned! what are u planning when u first get there? ive been looking at apartments in joondalup an theres a lady on here that lets out furnished rentals so havent decided yet! so much to do! oooh youll have to let me know about the shipping costs were stll undecided on that too lol hopefully it`ll all click into place! :)

Crown rescheduled to next week but i did email asking for a rough estimate on a half container and a full container...half is £3000 and full is £4500.....my family in perth reckon i should sell what i can here and buy new over there but other people on this site have said to take everything from uk so im a bit confused lol

Hi Maddielou and Lesandkev, I have noticed that you are both going to rent out your UK property. Are you going to get a buy to let or have you got a clause in your mortgage to allow you to be overseas and let the house? I am just plucking up courage to start the visa application process off. The way things are in the housing market at the moment I think I will end up renting. I do not really want to give my house away. Saying that I think It will be tight for money if I do not sell it.

hi daz yeah our house now has a buy to let mortgage so we can rent it out because we wouldnt get much out of selling it at the min, and then moving in with the in laws for a few months just to save more money every bit counts! lol and lesley thanks for the info think were going to sell everything and only send personal items such as photos and some of the kids favourite toys etc. we looked on the ikea website and other sites and worked out itll be the same but i quess its down to personal preference really. im from grimsby north east where abouts do u live? :)
