  1. Akasully2 is right, the market is flooded over here, but could I suggest if you have your C&G level 3 you should consider training others to be groomers? There is scope for that over here and the money's good too - about $60-75 per hour! As for telecommunications - there seems to be shed loads of work over here! Good luck with it all x
  2. After the last two days of catastrophic computer crisis, I would say YES! I'm still sitting here online dealing with the IT people now, I think I've been on a hotline to them since Friday - one almighty virus got in the Murdoch system and I'm living with the repercussions of it all arrrrrr
  3. That's right opposite where I work! Fab! We stayed at Sunset Villa in South Fremantle and it was great, even with the kids sharing a room. There is parking for your hire car or own car, there is a little park right outside the front door, no traffic, walking distance to the beach, easy access to Fiona Stanley by bus or car.....the owners were amazing too! I can't recommend the place enough and I had a 4 & 7 yr old. When do you arrive? I work at Murdoch Uni which is over the road from Fiona Stanley. I live locally to there too do can help with school stuff too if you need x
  4. They don't have masses of houses but they have at least one in each area. We stayed at a place in south fremantle and it was amazing! What are you looking for, perhaps as a newbie to Perth, I may be able to help? X
  5. There's quite a few offers like that but I've we just phoned around and asked them directly. There aren't many though as they offer migrant flights to Sydney and Melbourne rather than Perth :-(
  6. We are still in holiday let in South Freo but we are going to Bibra Lake. It's quiet, got heaps of parks, free bbq's, the lake to walk around...... The school is lovely from what we have seen so far and my son who started yesterday came running out of school screaming about how much he loved it! He even woke up this morning asking if he could go school today!!!! Bibra has loads of dogs around and even the house we have taken is dog friendly although (we don't have one yet). It's clean, green and above all safe and friendly. I hope I don't have to eat my words on this one :-/
  7. It was a case of spending every night on the iPad I think! We are not quite there yet as we are still to move in, container needs to arrive and we have to buy a car before I start work in a few days, but we are getting there. Have you looked at areas yet?
  8. Hi there. We arrived in perth last Saturday and viewed about five houses. Yes it is off putting having so many people looking at houses at the same time but if you are a family you are looked upon more favourably than couples and singles, or so wee have found. The agents we spoke to all said the same thing that families are more likely to stay in the house for longer so are a better prospect and more likely to be chosen over other applicants. Like I said, we have been here a few days and had secured long term housing by weds am, got my hubby a job by weds PM and the boys in school by Friday, literally they were in classes by the Friday. It is doable and it wasn't too stressful so long as you do your research from home and find areas you are more likely to be living in. We narrowed it down to about four areas, arrived and had aa drive around and discounted two of them. We are now looking at moving into our first choice area next weds. As for your dog, we have seen loads of rentals with dogs allowed, it's kid of second nature for me to look at pet friendly situations and Australia is very dog friendly! You will be fine. X
  9. Hi deb. We only found one airline that did 30kg as the norm and 40kg for migrants. Unless you're prepared to fly via Sydney and then pay the extra baggage allowance from there to here, the airlines are very few and far between. We flew with Singapore and they were exceptional, I can't fault them. They were the cheapest too and if you've got kids, they knew the kids names, gave them toys and the kids meals were fantastic! Don't worry about the house either. Needed every penny from the house to get out here and even tough the house hadn't gone through, we made do and got out here. We didn't have much choice as I was starting work, but the shout finally went through yesterday, the sun has been shining and we have spent the afternoon with some wonderful perth poms peeps today! Magic! Good luck my love!
  10. Hi there, we have just arrived and are moving into our new house next week or so, are you selling the bed etc separate or is it attached to the house rental? Cheers
  11. Hi Allan. Have you got anything decent size wise and economical for around $5-6k. We are on a budget but have kids. We only arrived this Saturday but we are desperate to get wheels sorted ASAP. Thanks :-)
  12. We fly out tomorrow and have booked ozhouserentals. So far they have been awesome! Even putting up with my ditzy blonde moments without any complaints. I will let you know about the villa at the weekend!
  13. Thank you, everyone, for your help! See you over there on Saturday!
