Hi all, any advice greatfully appreciated. I am looking to emigrate with my wife and 2 children and after a lot of research decided WA offers the bet opportunities.
I am a fully qualified tram driver here in the UK but this is not on the skills list. The only viable option I can think of is to switch from light rail to heavy rail. I recall QR National freight advertising a couple of months back in the UK papers for qualified heavy rail drivers to work in and around WA on a sponsored visa. Doing a search I have noticed trainee positions available in Albany. Can anyone tell me what the employment levels are like in towns like Albany and Bunbury? The highest chance I have got is to find a position where there is difficulty in filling thats why I have chosen areas away from the big cities but not too remote. The house prices are a lot cheaper which is good. I can then approach say QR National and see if they would sponsor me. I have been in contact with migration services in Perth who have said if an employer is struggling to fill a vacancy then the occupation does not need to be on the skills list to sponsor. (fingers crossed). I enquired about a trainee position in Adelaide and was told by their HR that 600 people applied for 10 jobs so hence me looking away from the big cities.
Cheers, Ja
