457 process medical

Hi All

 

Wondering whether someone can shed a bit of light on this for me. I understand the 3 step process of 457 visa application, just wanted to know at what point do we go for our meds. Visa agent has drafted our application, which I have approved with a view to lodging it next week, I was under the impression we needed meds prior to application or is it a case of DIAC deciding upon receipt of application what meds if any, are required.

Hi sweetpea1 we did not need to have any meds when we got our 457 which surprised me. I asked the agent but didn't really get a full answer other than you've got your visa so you don't need meds.

Medicals are not generally required for the majority of 457 applications, it does however depend on the position. Do check with your visa agent about your specific case though!! This is what you are paying an agent for!! Dont be afraid to ask them any questions you have!

Hi there. I have been told I will need to have a medical in the UK, but I have disclosed that I have Crohn's Disease, so that's why.

It seems that if you don't have anything serious wrong with you, you don't generally have to take the medical (but i could be wrong)

The company who have offered me my job are sorting out my 457 for me .. i'm currently waiting to hear back from them as to when i need to go for a medical.
