I've just bought my first used car in Oz!
I bought it privately from a friend of a friend so I've yet to see it but it sounds like a steel.

So, what will I need to do when I pick it up?
Apparently there is some paperwork I have to sign - no problem. I'll not be taking out insurance, the 3rd party that comes with the rego will be fine.

Is there anything I have to do before I can drive it?
Will there be any cost involved above the price of the car?

I think it's probably just the rego documentation.
Not sure I'd risk the CTP only option - repairs to other vehicles can be expensive! But your call :D

I just bought a car through a dealer, after you transfer ownership you get a nice bill from the WA Govt for 'Stamp Duty' based on the price you paid for the car, look at the link http://www.getapproved.com.au/car-fi...uty-calculator
