you're in Baldivis Central. i reckon you'll have to go NOR if you're commuting to Joondalup. they don't really "do" commuting here...it's a waste of fishing/drinking/beach time you're coming out for a more relaxed lifestyle...... there are plenty of pom ghettos around joondalup, just as there are down here.....i'm sure this website can help you ...and most of them are new suburbs like Baldivis...and nowhere's far from the beach. if you get stuck with anything or confused or lost....drop me a message...and an aussie phone no, and i'll do my best to help !

Then again if Baldivis is as nice as it seems he may just have to put up with the drive ;-) certainly seems well enough placed for facilities.
love the idea of the 'burra's and the rest of the birds; we've two cats who we reckon will just move in by the nearest window and stay there.

Really looking forward to getting out there; it's our 'leaving party' tonight then we've just over a week to take all scenic (cough cough) photos and say more personal farewells. Might have to look you guys up when we get out though.
Hi we arrived here on the 19th of december we felt the same as you just could not wait to get here, we love it so far we put it down to making the right choice to make the move you only have life, Our approach was if we do not like it we would have a nice holiday and go but i can not see us going home for a long time. you well love it out here have a nice flight enjoy the jet lag

Wow, we have just exchanged on our house and complete on the 27th - still awaiting our visas, hopefully they come through before or just after we complete. Like you guys we will also be on airbeds between shipping our stuff and moving out, quite stressed as awaiting visas still. We have a little boy of 3 and a girl of 5 - very excited too! planning to live in Port Kennedy area. We have family in Perth so it makes the move a lot easier! (my husbands brother) xx good luck and enjoy the adventure xx

We are flying to Perth on the 27th Feb (we have a son aged 4 and daughter aged 1).

We are in the process of getting rid of all our belongings we aren't taking (not shipping anything just taking what will fit in our luggage).

We have not had an ounce of panic or stress with the whole process which only started in April 2011 when we decided to apply for 176.

We are so excited about the move and although it is sad leaving family and friends behinds this isn't having much affect on our plans. just can't wait for the next 7 weeks to go by :-)

Will be in Safety Bay initially and hoping to get a rental in Rockingham/ Safety Bay asap

      Hi,
We are flying two weeks tomorrow, and our stuff was shipped 3 weeks ago so have been sitting on camp chairs and sleeping on air beds, but it's been fun, the kids love it, everyone keeps asking us if we are stressed but no we are not, like you we can't wait to go, so looking forward to it, we are having a leaving party Saturday which I'm sure will be sad, but we have told everyone that they are more than welcome to come out for a holiday.
      Good luck to you!

Ok folks follow up posting on this one.

We've now been here a week, I have been working since Monday, Bev is flying to Sydney on Sunday for a weeks training, it's been hot, real hot no in fact even the locals are syaing it's been HOT.

However, we are still not stressed. In fact we feel bloody wonderful & very chilled out (oh ok maybe not - this place has no AC!!)

I drive from well SOR to well NOR each day in rush hour traffic and it's easy (still moving NOR thou as it eats into BBQ time!).

If you're coming over and having any worries pls feel free to PM us and we'll do all we can to help. Can't say that after 2 reccie trips & a week we are experts but will try to offer advice.

      cheers

      J n B

i know a few people who arrived with just suitcases. they survived and thrived !! just before we left we bought webcams for parents/siblings. we set them up and set up a skype address for each of them and showed them how it worked... i think it took away a bit of the "fear" of losing someone close..and showed them that they can sit down and talk face to face when they want

We did the same with laptops & webcams, it was a very good move for both parties. I think I have "seen" my parents more since we travelled than when we lived in the UK - lol!

Aww, sniff. I want to be able to say we're going too but we're not at that stage yet. I'm more stressed about DH not getting a job over there!

      Good luck all.
