Reccomendations on Suburbs around Jandakot

Hi Guys,

Visas permitting, we are starting work in March, based in Jandakot. we are looking at surrounding suburbs and would welcome any reccomendations on family friendly suburbs (SOR) with decent primary schools (kids aged 11 & 7) & within 20 mins travel time or less to Jandakot. (on the assumption 20 mins outside may mean cheaper rental?????)


Any advice gratefully appreciated

Attwell, Success, Bibra Lake, Leeming, Canningvale, Harrisdale, Southern River, Willeton, Bull Creek, Beelier, Hamilton Hill, North Lake, South Lake, Kardinya, Murdoch, Coolbellup, Riverton, Rossmoyne,

To name a few ... as well as Jandakot itself.

We live in Leeming - good schools in the area, we have children whose families have moved to Success and Piara Waters and Harrisdale but continue to bring their children to our primary school.

Hi there. My partner is going to be based in Jandakot aswell and we have moved to Atwell, It is a 10 min drive away. Research atwell too because we love it here. I cant comment on schools yet because mine little one is only 3 but I have heard they are great. Right beside gateways shopping centre too so dead handy!

Who is your partner working for? If you dont mind me asking ofcourse!

o/h is going to be working for Western Power as a Lineworker, we have had job offer, just waiting to start visa process & relocation!!! they want us there in March.Would you have any idea how much rentals are in Atwell??

Oh march ain't far away at all! Are you all getting excited?

Rent depends on what ur looking for really, we live at the top end of Atwell which is much more established and with older style houses than the bottom of Atwell which is mostly modern new builds (but still lovely). We pay $475 a week rent and that gets us a 4 x 2 with pool, it can vary but it all depends on what you are after. If u don't mind me asking, what sort of budget were u thinking of?

We really getting excited but keep telling ourselves its one thing having the job offer another getting the visa.!!!

I think we are looking at around the $450 p/w mark we would really like a 4x2 if possible. been looking on real estate au at rentals, do you know of any more rental sites???

Sorry to butt in on this thread, we (OH & 2 kids 3,12) moved to Perth last Thursday and are currently staying at a holiday let in Carramar. Most of my industry apparently is SOR (industrial electrical maintenance), canning vale area....I have been offered a job in Bentley and the OH is looking around sir Charles gardiner next week. Over the last couple of days we had a trip down to look at different areas and go to rentals that where advertised on realestate.............we liked the Ranford estate in canning vale, meve estate in beeliar, harvest lakes.................from what we saw of aubin grove, southern river and piara waters we didn't like, dont know what it was but there didnt seem like there would be a community feel to those areas..............only thing is with the areas we liked we only found a couple of rentals available............could anyone suggest other areas like the ones mentioned..............cheers................did I mention we have only 3 weeks to find somewhere, hope thats enough time !!!!!!

Hi Ali, how are you? I think we would like a bit of both, if you know what I mean. We liked the more established area of canning vale (ranford estate) and there were some newer houses on that estate.. What we saw of southern river, piara waters & aubin grove we thought was just too flat, very nice houses but all at the same level and no feeling that you could get to know your neighbour !! it may sound strange what I said but its just when you get a feeling for something, we didn't with what we saw of those places. There may have been other parts of these areas that we haven't seen and what we did was just drive around and stop outside properties that were on realestate.com being advertised, it may be that we are being too fussy, we are in carramar at the moment and love it, its just too far to commute, we think ??
