In Mandurah i would go for M on the Point. Nice place with great views. Have been a few times and while it isnt spectacular the food is reasonable and never had a bad meal there. The japanese place opposite the foreshore is also very nice and very reasonably priced. We often go for sashimi. The new indian at Dolphin Quey the jury is out on. We had one meal and it was terrible. But, it had just opened and will give it one more go.
In Perth. The Greenhouse is fantastic. Love the place. Food is excellent, imaginative and fun. The roof top bar is great for after meal drinks.
Also in Perth i highly recomend Amuse. It is a fixed menu of i think 9 courses which changes monthly. One memorable one was "chicken or the egg" This looked like poached egg but was actually made from chicken and played games with the brain as you ate it. The wine package of 6 wines with the meal is great and the sommelier explains why she chose each wine for each course.
The big wineries in Margaret River all do decent meals, though its annoying they only do lunch. The town itself doesnt offer much for dinner. There is a Must restaurant, which is probably the better of the bunch. We ate there recently and it was ok, but we couldnt put our finger on what was wrong. Then we realised that actually, Margaret River produce just isnt that good. We realised one evening when eating a cheese selection we had put together and finding by far the best cheese was imported.

Really fussy about Indian food as I cook it at home a couple of times a week so if I go out to an Indian restaurant I expect really tasty food. Not come across many that come up to scratch in Oz but very impressed with Little Chutney's in Subiaco. However, expensive and the portions are small.

Spices on Ocean on Rockingham foreshore not bad either. And been recommended Maya Indian Restaurant in Fremantle but not been yet.

Had lunch with friends on Saturday at the The Norfolk Hotel in Freo. Our second visit but only had drinks first time. Very popular place. Pizzas made in pizza oven great, handcut chips with mayo delicious. And the pub has a great beer and wine selection.

Went to Outback Jack's in Freo about 3 weeks ago as everywhere else booked up. The food was rubbish. My husband said his steak was average (and it was one of the most expensive ones on the menu) and my veggie burger was horrible. Won't be going again ever.

Dusit Thai in Northbridge is good. Been there twice since we moved here last September as it is the favourite place of some friends. The couple have been eating there for 20 years.

Thought i would add another as went out a couple of weeks ago while i was home. Nobu at the casino. For those that dont know it, it is a sister restaurant of the famous London one which is regarded as one of the best restaurants in London. The man himslef is japanese but spent a lot of time in Peru so the flavours are from both. It wasnt cheap ($350 for two including a couple of cocktails and two glasses of wine) but it is VERY good. Would highly recomend it for a special treat.

We were disappointed with out back jacks but it hadn't been open long so thought it might be teething problems ... but as you've been recently, don't think we'll try it again/

Celebrated my hubbys birthday on Saturday at Eat Greek in Fremantle. We had a great night, very family friendly. Buffett food which served enough variety for everyone to feel full. Lovely venue (overlooking the marina). $44.95 per adult and kids up to 12 are double their age .. I'm sure my boy ate more than $24 worth of dessert!!. House wine was $24.50 a bottle (can't remember beer/spirit prices). Total cost with drinks (and a fair few of them) for 15 of us was $755

We've fallen in love with Andaluz Bar & Tapas in the city (just off St Georges terrace)....fab food, wine and cocktails. It's not a big place but really cosy and the outdoor seating area is lovely. It's not the cheapest place around but the food and service are worth the money.

Really enjoy The Greenhouse too both for food and weekend drinks....the rooftop bar is really fun and a little hideaway from the hussle and bussle of the street below.

Somewhere we dislike, mostly because of the poor service is Cantina in Mount Lawley...try it and make up your own mind but we won't be going back :(

Andaluz is a funny one. I like the place, other half doesn't. I think though it's isn't a great restaurant. More a great bar with some interesting tapas.

Ah yes I agree....def worth a visit though.

Perth is def a strange city for resturants....there doesn't seem to be that much choice and some are very over rated but then there are some hidden gems.

Yeah, that is the one thing I miss. Choice of good quality restaurants.

Prices are very high as well.

Give Amuse a try. I think that's our favorite

Have you got the Entertainment Book - worth having for discounts in restaurants and ideas about where to eat.
