Ive had some heart wrenching moments over the last year so I am trying to stay optimistic. The bullying doesnt involve much physical stuff more verbal and unfortuanatly my son can get quite emotional, hes a big lad and everyone expects things to wash over him, but he finds that difficult. He was off the scale on his Naplan results and his Wamse results were again higher than the chart could measure, but socially he struggles. He has met a couple of close friends but they have moved on with their parents to other parts of Perth, so I think sometimes he just gives up. We have been very lucky with our move to Australia but this is the one thing I have no control over, he has to do this for himself. Ive spoken to the school but they have not been any real help. They promised PEAC classes but then decided that as he hadnt arrived in Australia in time for the test, he couldnt have them, even though it was obvious from his test results he needs it. I have now given up and put his name down for a private school near where we are moving, so I am hoping he may do better there, they have better results and do concentrate more on accademic rather than sport which my son just isnt into. Anyway like I said onwards and upwards and positive thinking. I really hope it stays that way.
Not all bright kids qualify for PEAC. I have 2 clever children. The eldest got better grades in Primary than her sister and didn't qualify for PEAC. My youngest does. It is more about logic and thinking outside the square than pure academia so although his results were off the scale (as my eldest daughters were) he may not necessarily have passed test (as my daughter didn't). Schools have 2 options to do the PEAC test with the latter one being in the November of each year to cover those kids that may have moved. I hope you find it better when he goes to private school.

Agree Arwen, my son has been in the TAG programme at primary school but didn't qualify for PEAC although apparently he did very well.

Shana is loving her new school. Third day and she is settling really well. Her first day - she was a bit nervous, but when she got to her classroom she basically told me to go home!!!!! There were no tears from her!! She is loving it!
Arrived in Baldivis on Friday 6th January 2012!!!! What a great start to the New Year...

My sons teacher said they only do Peac testing every two years and and that we had just missed it when we arrived and that he couldnt do the next one because he was in the wrong year, so Im confused. I think a lot of it may be to do with the fact that the school now has over 1000 kids in one primary school, so maybe its just too over subscribed, I dont know either way at the moment things are going ok, so fingers crossed.
Catherine, Matt and Travis (10) just moved into our newly built house in Lakelands North Mandurah, and loving it.

They test for PEAC in year 4 generally. However if a child has moved from overseas and they are in year 5 then if the school think the child will do well in the test they can put them forward for testing. It is unusual to test in year 6 and 7. PEAC is not done in school, it is done at various locations around Perth. Depending on the option the child picks they have to travel to different Primary schools, the Zoo or Scitech.
