Closing times

Is it true that everything pretty much closes down about 8pm in Perth?

I was told that you can't get any takeaway etc after 8pm

It's changing, but things like late night and Sunday opening are a rarity. The usual chain fast food places have some 24 hour branches. But a lot of the other restaurants and take away places do seem to close (comparatively) early.
The Sunday opening thing is a bit strange to me, it's like going back in time to when I was a kid. Some of the supermarkets are starting to work out that if you work in the day, getting to the supermarket before 5.30 isn't always convenient - some of the big ones now open til 8 or 9 at night. I'm used to 24 hour supermarkets so I still find it a bit strange.

I actually love the non Sunday trading ... There is plenty of time in the week to shop ! And no not everywhere closes at 8 maybe 10 past hahahaha
Restaurants bars and clubs of course stay open late :)

Supermarkets generally are open now until 9pm Mon - Fri but close at 6pm, we've always had an IGA which opens until 10pm

Our chinese closes about 9 - 9.30 (I think),

Wow, as you can appreciate, coming from the uk that seems a little strange, especially as I work in London at the moment where there is no sacred time. So many things are open 24hrs there and are also busy but on the flip side of that, thats probably a nice thing to get away from.

It takes some getting used to when you first arrive.
Now it's nice to not be able to go and do it on a Sunday. instead it's family time, which is refreshing.
You just have to change your habits slightly and it works.

My hubby loves it, I used to pop out in the evening to Asda for milk/bread, came home over an hour later, when I worked nights I used to take my break about 2am and go to Asda down the road ... it is about changing your habits. Shops in the city are open Sundays and in tourist places (but not all shops), it is rather refreshing to know you have that time to spend with your family

You can get a takeaway like domino's pizza up to 11pm and most supermarkets are open till 9pm. You get late night shopping on a thurs just like the UK so the shops in shopping centre are open till about 8. Also there are some centres open on a sunday but they are few and far between. I am still getting used to the sunday thing but actually it is quite nice, I just have to remember to get everything on saturday that I will need!
