  1. Nah you don't need to worry about that just yet. White Card will suffice. Companies have what they call a nominated registered builder which fulfills the requirements. Not all the supervisors at our place have there ticket. Obviously if you have or are working towards it, it will help with the chances of gaining employment. You can do training towards your registration through HIA or go back to TAFE .. Think they can recognise prior learning.
  2. Hi mate, house building is booming at the minute and will be for the foreseeable. I too am a residential site manager who was in your position a couple of years back. I eventually got an opportunity after a great deal of perseverance. The construction manager actually told me after my six months probation that no one else within the company wanted to give me a go due to lack of WA experience. I have since won awards and in the bosses words and become a major asset to the company. So it's not all negative, you have just got to be prepared to work in any capacity until an opportunity comes along. If you need any advice of the ins and outs of how residential works over here let me know. Cheers.
  3. Hey Keefo, if your looking for something more long term in Kingsley, we are soon to break lease as we are downsizing to a new place just around the corner. Top easy going agent also.
  4. I agree, Kingsley is ideal. I work throughout Ellenbrook and Aveley, it is just 25mins down Gnangara Road. For the CBD you have Whitfords and Greenwood station at either end so the city is easy. It's a nice area also, which helps.
  5. Unsure really mate, all I know is when they advertise rentals or houses they state as a positive that it falls with Woodvale catchment area, so it must half decent. Our little ones will eventually feed in to there so I hope it is all good.
  6. The residential sector is booming and will be for many years to come. Most of the lads are subbies, don't ask what they earn but they are certainly busy. Trevor's Carpets look after the bulk of our work followed by Carpet Call, maybe worth making contact upon arrival.
  7. Very easy, in my line of work which is housebuilding they are desperate for decent apprentices.
  8. Hey mate, I can send you some plans/details/layouts if you want to see you exactly how roofs are generally constructed on residential in WA. Send us your email if you want and I can forward.
  9. True, we are obviously registered with all. So what do you all reckon, don't bother. It's not as if I want to go anywhere else in any case.
  10. If your brickie, I would just get yourself out here. There is plenty of work at the minute. Bricklayers have no trouble finding work right now.
  11. Hi mate, we are North. Probably will get him to try something different. However, just found a fishery called Golden Lakes which sounds ok.
  12. Hi Folks, Got my old man coming over for a month next week. He is wanting to go fishing ( course ) whilst he is here. Can anyone recommend anywhere, ideally somewhere that can rent tackle. Thanks.
