Rossmoyne
Hi Keano and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, crime is increasing all over WA according to the stats. However I think how you look after your personal and home safety has a big part to play in this issue, and I don't think it is just down to WA, but worldwide. The stats show that some suburbs are affected more than others, but you have to look at the size of the suburb, the number of dwellings, and the history of the suburb, before you can make an informed decision. From your list... Canning Vale is a massive suburb that spans residential, light industrial and heavy industrial.... Lots of new estates that have grown into one suburb that is surrounded by industry and very few shopping centres. Como is an old inner suburb that initially had large houses on large blocks that have now been demolished to make way for multi occupied premises. Lots of character in the suburb as there are still some old houses, but it is a suburb split by Canning Highway. Spearwood used to be an outer suburb that encompassed a lot of market gardens... these have more or less disappeared into multi occupied housing estates. And it now is bounded and encompasses industrial estates. Bentley has always had a troublesome reputation. This suburb was one of the major social housing areas after WW2 until the 70's and attracted some undesirable tenants, as well as some honest genuine ones. Bentley is changing these days and a lot of housing here is now privately owned and multi-occupied by students from Curtin University, which is also situated in Bentley. There is also a huge Aged Care Facility that seems very popular. Bentley though spans a large area bounded by Manning, Como, East Victoria Park, and then moving over the other side of Albany Highway, all the way to the railway line. It is a suburb that is changing, but it still has some serious social issues that seem to attract crime in pockets of the suburb. The above is just my views from having lived in Perth for 25 years. I have to say that of all the suburbs you are looking at, that I would live in Como without any hesitation. Canning Vale would be OK... Spearwood - maybe.... Bentley - Never! ali
There are 3/1 properties in my suburb Leeming (not far from Canning Vale) which is only 10 mins to the city by train and near to Fremantle. When you look at properties unless it says 'no pets' it's always worth asking.

You have given such a rich detailed history but i wish to know more about it. 2) You mentioned Bentley, " some serious social issues" - can i check what kind of social issues? thanks! keano

Rossmoyne
2) You mentioned Bentley, " some serious social issues" - can i check what kind of social issues? thanks! keano http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/man-stabbed-to-death-in-bentley-after-argument-over-stolen-bike-20160404-gny889.html. These sort of social issues. As I said before there are "pockets" of the suburb with social issues... the area encompassing Coolgardie St where this incident happened, is in one of these areas.
