Shipping costs?

Hi all

Myself and my husband are moving in the near future and are trying to organise shipping our car over along with us. It's unfamiliar territory to us and need a bit of guidance so I have a few questions. Firstly, would it be worth shipping over Land Rover? Secondly, how much would we be looking at in terms of cost and could anyone refer us to anyone they have used themselves?

i would look at the car for sales websites over here and check out prices of landrovers etc over here . Then you can get an idea if worth it or not )

Hi, we are in Perth and I have just started the process of bringing over my beloved Rolls Royce. The basic rules are you have to have owned and had use of the vehicle for at least 12 months prior to applying to ship it. You can apply to ship before you leave the UK or upto six months from date of arrival. (im just in)

You don't say how old or what type of Landrover you have? I work in the motortrade here and the place where I work specialises in 4x4s. We've had a few discoverys in and ive got to say they don't seem to withstand the constant heat as well as the Jap stuff or the Aussie made stuff. You will find that parts are way more expensive here as there are a lot less of them here than in the UK.

You've than got the associated costs of actually getting here, the Government charges are a nothing short of a money making exercise, you are charged Import duty at 5% of a value of the vehicle, you have to pay for the valuation. Then there is GST at 10% on top, but the GST is 10% of value + shipping cost+insurance. There is also luxury car tax which is added if your vehicle is valued at over $68,000 (I think that's the figure)

However on the bright side if your Landy is over 30 years old there is no import duty to be paid but, the way I read is, you still pay GST on what its value is + plus shipping costs etc blah blah!!

Some people say don't do it and some say that it was easy, I suppose it boils down to how much you love the car and how much you want to spend.

hi, im just in the proccess of import a bike.... this is a link to read. you have to log into the site and then there is a lot of form filling online... make sure you have scanned copies of everything before you start... and allow a good few hours to do it.
