Hi, I'm hoping to move to WA next July /September time and have just started to look through jobs that are advertised. I am a primary school teacher that has specialised in special needs and disabilities.

I am am just wondering if anyone can inform me of how the school year runs I.e. In England the school year starts September until July with August as the summer holidays? Is this the same there or is it different due to different seasons etc?

Thank you

Danielle

There are four term each ten weeks with no half terms so takes a bit of getting use to. Starts early Feb for ten weeks, two week holiday April, another ten weeks and two week hol in July, term 3 and two weeks end of Sept and then break up nine weeks about mid December. http://www.education.wa.edu.au/home/detcms/navigation/education/our-schools/term-dates/

I'm coming up to ten months here and fortunately found work quickly. I was recommended coming over in and around September as jobs are advertised over here and was a little concerned that I'd missed the boat arriving in November. Having spoken to other teachers they agreed that September/October is a good time to be over if looking for a job.

where do you think you'd live/work that will impact on job availability.

thank you for this. I've been debating when would be the best time to come over - August/sept or Nov but now that has cleared that issue up :)

hoping to live WA perth side but unsure where yet, I think that will depend on the job. I'm liking the look of the areas between Perth, mandurah and bunbury. But unsure really yet. I'm looking for a teaching job in a special school or the support units really.
