Laz
Hi...I know this has probably been covered a billion times but ..... Does anyone have recent experience using RORO shipping for their car? If so, can they recommend a shipper, any problems, any advice etc? And if you chose RORO over shipping the car in your household goods container, then why? Many thanks! I'm just at the start of the shipping research but I'm limited for time as we have (fingers crossed) sold our house and we're away for a couple of weeks soon so need to sort it out ASAP. SaffanZimbo
Okay thanks. Just wondering if any forum users have done RORO? Next shipping company said don't do it. First said do do it so now confused... We were thinking of sending our car RORO as it would have worked out cheaper than including it in a container. However after much research and quote finding we decided to put all our eggs in one basket so to speak and send a 40 foot high container with car, motorbike and household goods. Just our personal choice and the container will be loaded at the house. Most shipping companies will tell you to include it in a container or part loaded of a 40 foot container so you need to look at specialist car freight companies. Iron Lady Imports are active on the forum and had we decided on RORO we would have used them so maybe contact them and get some facts and figures? They give a comprehensive cost summary so that there are no nasty shocks once the car lands in Oz.

Problem is also that company number 2 has said there's no way we will fit our household goods plus car into a 40 ft container. And we'll need more than a 20 ft for just household. Gosh, it's hard to know whether they're right. we are taking fridge, washer, dryer, dishwasher, 5 sofas...and the rest....so possibly it's a lot of stuff.
