Hi everyone on Perth Poms

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this forum. Husband and I have applied to the CPV which takes a long time to process. This is why I decided to join Perth Poms as it is Perth we will be heading, and gather as much info about Perth as I could. I'm 48 and husband is 52 and currently have one son living in Perth whom we have visited twice before deciding to take the plunge.

One thing that does terrify me a bit is making friends and fitting in. Currently, we own our own business and I do some volunteer work but when we eventually make the move apart from our son we won't know anyone. We are both British Indians and live in Leicester. At our age it can be difficult to meet people. We are both quite active and regularly go to the gym and one the reasons we decided to move to Australia was the change in lifestyle apart from missing our son!

It would be great if others could share their experiences on making friends has been or if they are just as scared as me.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

 

We lived in Leicester prior to moving to Oz - my wife will be gaining freedom of the city later this year. We now live in Scotland.

 

We we have a number of members who have moved on CPV and I am sure some will pop along when they wake up - it is early hours of the morning in Perth at the moment.

Very many congrats on gaining the freedom of the city. Leicester is great city, it looks a bit grim but what it lacks in looks, it makes up in spirit.

Really kind of you reply. Wow, Scotland is a big change from Oz and to our shame, we've never been. We plan to visit before making the move as my younger son, who is geologist often goes there and is always telling us how beautiful it is.
