Moving to Perth xmas 2012!!

It has taken two long years to get this far but we have finally made it

. Our Business 163 visas came through Dec 21st 2011 so we are packing up and shipping out hopefully to land in Perth some time early December this year, (once the house is sold)

We plan on settling in either Mindarie - for the beach life or Joondalup - for the city life, we like both options but are undecided right now. S'pose it will depend on where we set up our business tho.

If anyone has any opinions or experiences on either suburb then please share them. Or indeed if anyone out there has emigrated to Perth on a business visa and has any advice or stories to tell then please let me know also.

This is my first post on this site or indeed any site to do with Perth so excuse me if these questions have already been asked / answered.

congrats!:) cant help ya out with business visa queries cause mine is a working holiday visa but im sure that someone on this forum will be able to help ya out.

Congrats on the visa, took us 2 1/2 years to get ours, we are also on the 163, heading to Perth in August. What business are you in, we have an office cleaning over here and hoping to start the same in Oz. Exciting times ahead....

Thanks wayne&wanda. I currently sell office furniture in the West Mids and have been doing so for what seems like an eternity right now. Don't think however that I will be following the same line of work in Perth however, sometimes business styles don't translate very well between countries and I could do with a change anyway which is one of the reasons that I looked to emigrate in the first place!!

I was over in Perth this time last year with my wife Rachel on a sort of rekkie trip. We spent most of our time in the Northern Suburbs between Scarbs (where our hotel was) and Quinns Rocks / Mindarie. We absolutely loved it and thought the Aussies to be a fantastic breed (even tho most are relocated Brits anyway) who made us feel welcome almost everywhere we went.

We were lucky to meet up with two families who emigrated back in the mid eighties and who i knew from back home. They were an inspiration right from the moment we met up, giving us lots of good advice and reminding us that our decision to emigrate to Perth would be 'The best move that we would ever make'. This was good to hear coming from two guys who I remember from back in the UK and who has experience in both countries.
