  3. Can anyone help me with a dilemma about school intake age. My daughter is 8 soon to be 9 on the 12th October. She's going into class 4 in September. We have made a provisional date to come out to oz in January 2017 as we had heard the new school year starts in February. Just wondering though she will be starting year 5 in England in sept 2016 so which year will she in when she starts school in oz in the feb. she will be ten when we get over there. Any help would be greatly appreciated as can't get my head round it.

  6. Hi guys just wondering how you chose a school for your children? Done a bit of research but can't really make a head or tail of the websites. You seem to have to know the name of the primary school before you can do a search on its stats. It's so difficult. And also did you have a school in place prior to making the move. We have a 8 year old about to go into UK class 4. And a 18 month old who will prob go to kindergarten by the time we get over there. My little girl goes to a very small catholic school over here which has about 300 pupils in the school. It's the only Catholic school in our area so that narrowed things down for us. But the SOR is so vast I'm not sure how we would ever narrow it down. I'm hoping for a job at the new children's hospital in nedlands and hubby is a builder so could go to various areas. When we were last in Perth me n hubby didn't have children but lived in the Cockburn, congee and Munster area. But when we lived there didn't pay attention to anything child related lol. Any advice ice would be great, I know everyone wants different things for schooling. We just want her to be settled and do her best in school in a school that's supportive and doing ok with league tables.
  7. Hi so after many years we have got the ball rolling on emigrating! But seen a few posts on various sites and facebook etc with people saying if they had known what they know now they would of stayed in the uk and that its hard to get on housing market etc in perth and economy is bad. Can anyone shed any light as it has me a bit worried. Not got a house or.mortgage but was one thing we wanted to do if we moved to oz as we are a young family. Any advice guys?! X
  8. Just a bit of a nosey question but wondering how much money people came to Australia with when they emigrated. We don't have a house to sell but will be bringing money to live comfortably for 6 months. But wondered how much other people came with?!
  9. Hi all we are currently applying for our 189 visa as I'm a paediatric nurse. Wondering if there are going to be permanent jobs for my hubby. His background is landscape gardening 7 years exp and nvq in this and he's been a ground worker, builder for last 13 years got his forklift tickets, mini digger, and dumper truck tickets all up to date. Worried he won't find anything. Any advice would be great thanks in advance x
  10. Brilliant hoping for a job there so might get a map of the are and then research suburbs. Thanks x
  11. Am I right in thinking the new children's hospital will be in nedlands?
  12. Wow that's really good we have looked at Leda and Wellard and also spear wood and baldivis but can't decide on any really. None of them near work but too expensive to live nearer city
  13. I think in my mind I thought the train would be really expensive as in the UK it can be. what about times it runs though is it quite flexible?
  14. Hi I'm at the very beginning of the visa process but wanted to look into different suburbs as the last time me and hubby were in Perth we didn't have children now we have an 8 year old and an 18month old likely to be 10 and 2.5 . I'm hoping to get a job at the children's hospital in Perth but don't want to live in city centre due to expense and not ideal for kids! Wondering what advice you could give me about good areas to look at and also commuting times as I'm a nurse and will prob work shifts what transport will be available to me. thanks
  15. Thanks il get looking at those. Once I pass (if I pass haha) how long does that last before I would have to resist. Just wondering if it's worth waiting till after Xmas as I don't hand my dissertation in until May 2016
