    newly qualified midwife- advise needed

No unfortunately not, the internship is year 4 of the degree so will still be a student. i am registered with the NMBI (regulatory body in Ireland) as a student and will remain a student until the internship is completed.
  5. You may just need to bite the bullet and apply for registration when eligible. Will you be qualified when you do the internship and not registered with NMC

    newly qualified midwife- advise needed

i suppose my question is with regards to registration with a period of supervision attached. there is alot of talk about uk midwives being diploma qualified but i cant get any specific answers about a bachelor degree in science( midwifery) and weather i would be expected to have the same period of supervision or notation on my registration. i am slightly worried about obtaining work as a new graduate, however my 4 year degree includes a 9months internship at the end of the program so i was hoping that may be i could use that as clinical experience? maybe not! i cant get an answer. however, it is a paid internship, but i still hold the title of 'student midwife'. thank you for your reply
  7. Once you get your registration you will be able to apply. There will be nothing to stop you moving once your training is complete and you have your registration. I can't say how easy it will be getting a job as a graduate - look at the hospitals that have maternity care. king Edwards is the largest, also private hospitals like St. John of God offer maternity. What is your specific question that you can't find on their website? As someone who has undertaken an international course you need to use form AFOS-40 that page will also direct you to the nursing and midwifery board core registration standards that have to be met. You can't apply for provisional registration as an overseas nurse
  8. Hi all, i am so confused about registration with APHRA i was hoping somebody could tell me how exactly registration works. i will hold a bachelor degree in midwifery from August 2019 which is when i qualify (im from Ireland so not UK trained). i want to move pretty much straight away as my husband is already there. We are already PR. Aphra have been pretty useless with info and very generic with responses. has anybody been through this process recently, and have there been any issues getting employment or any restrictions put on registration.

Thanks Bristle, sounds like a good trip all round then. We've got our dates sorted and Thai is still by far the best for price. Although after a UK trip it sounds like you copped a fair cost in shoes! Hopefully I won't!

Quick update on the return flights. Service on both legs was again very good. The movies and TV were the same as before (with one or two additions) so I was starting to struggle for something to watch. Both return flights were below capacity so on the first leg we had a row of four seats to ourselves and the OH was able to lie down to sleep. This also helped when checking in as our bags were slightly overweight (due to my OH deciding that she didn’t have enough shoes and clothes, although she could open a shop with the amount she has, and buying more) but we weren’t charged extra.

Hi, I've removed your phone number - much safer that people respond by PM. You might also wish to change your username so you don't get heaps of unsolicited spam.

    Evidence of purchases

Thank you very much, I appreciate that so much! I have been very thorough as to me they want to see evidence that we are living together and buying things for our home that we share etc.....so we keep receipts for purchases such as our new sofa invoice, new cooker and dishwasher etc...as you say it should be evidence under household/commitment.....

    Teaching jobs

Hi I arrived in Dec 2018 with a primary teaching job to go to! I was very determined and applied for over 50 primary jobs on WA jobs. I also applies for private wxhool jobs as I was already in the private sector in the UK and had been for 17 years. I have taught primary for 20 years, was also Head of English and Middle School coordinator so had good experience. I got through to 6 teaching pools, some by interview via Skype and some not. In the end I was offered 3 positions in totally different areas so had to choose the area that we thought suited out family. I think we made the best Choice as it's very rural and classed as remote but actually there's shops with 5 mins and we're 2 mins from the coast. Before we came I was panicking as since uni I've never been without a job, I was the same as you and would have done supply had I needed to and I hear there is enough to work a few days each week. I was glad to get a position and I ha e taught year 2bforbthe first term now so that's given me a chance to get to know the strategies and teaching programs they use in my school, now I'm a relief but permanent, so last week I taught kindy up to year 6....its great as I get to know all the kids in the school and get so much variety, on Friday I taught Art all day, it was lovely! I would recommend you highly tailor each application to the school, echo want they're looking for. Join WA jobs website and you get regular job updates that you an apply to from their portal. Also there's a video clip tutoring you in the application process, I found that really helpful. Any other qs, just pm me! Good luck! Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk

    Teaching jobs

Not many schools actually teach French and German - the majority will offer an Asian language such as Japanese and Chinese. My daughters school did teach French and I know some schools teach Italian. UWA was the only University a few years ago that offered French. Have a look at seek.com for jobs to give you an idea of what's out there.

    Teaching jobs

Hello! I'm hoping you can help me out. I've just been granted my 189 and aim to arrive mid-August. I'm in a bit of a dilemma; I've heard that the job market in Perth is saturated. I'm secondary French and German qualified with 15 years experience at classroom level, subject/ department leadership and curriculum development. I have led Citizenship across 3 schools, deliver PSHE and am currently head of RE. I spent 3 years in primary (2014-2017) teaching Y6 and leading whole school French across 3 schools. I think I'm very employable.... I'll teach anything to anyone . What's the word on the street regards the job market? I'd go down the supply route initially but would hope to find a permanent position in 2020 term 1.... Any inside advice? Can't decide whether to stick with Perth or head elsewhere if the market is dire.... Thanks ever so. Louise

VOTING - anyone a Citizen and voting?

Currently away in UK and will be returning on May 8th. Will have to do a cram session when we get back to get up to speed as this will be our first election since we became citizens.

Has anyone applied for citizenship lately?

Let us know how you go...

Has anyone applied for citizenship lately?

So it's now over 4 weeks since I did the test, following advice from the lady who interviewed me I rang the local council today. I spoke to a very helpful lady who said that we need to wait for a letter from immigration saying we had passed the test/ interview. Once we receive that then it's a quick process. I told her when we did the test and she said we should have it very soon. She checked available dates and there's room for us on the 1st of July which mean we can get passports before 1st August. I'm pretty happy with that timeframe. Just waiting for the letter now!

    Eaton / Bunbury

Thanks Rossmoyne... there is something magical about the South West of WA! Your friends have the right idea - renting before buying. Think we will do this as well to make sure we truly do like the area. Work wise we are toying with the idea of initially finding something near Mandurah. Reason being we would be staying with my family in Perth first for a few months before heading down south. Although it is still a bit of a commute, it is doable from both ends and would buy us more time to find work in the Bunbury region. My partner is currently training as a personal trainer so ideally he would like to be doing something with fitness, but we are both pretty flexible, so we are hoping for the best!

VOTING - anyone a Citizen and voting?

We're having the same dilemma - we will vote (to avoid the fine) but not sure who for
  26. I have lived in Australia for almost 30 years, been a Citizen for 27 of those years, so I have voted many times. However this time W have no idea who I vote for. It seems to me that all the major parties are tossers who lie and cheat... and then there are so many other small parties and independents (who mostly have issues that tie them in with major parties). Who on earth do you vote for so that the Australia you know and love, continues the same!?

House and pet sitting in Perth

There are House sitting/ Pet sitting websites that you might like to register on. This is a service that a lot of people are looking for, but they are obviously concerned about security and honesty. Perhaps registering with an on line agency that verifies you, might be the way to go.
