  1. Thanks VS, I have found a nursing thread on here and I am already chatting to some folk about the hoops that I am going to have to jump through . We already knew that the WA police force are not recruiting internationally at the mo as they were in London last year doing a big recruitment drive for international officers. I did not know however that he could apply once there, that's very useful to know, thanks for your help. I am going to get in contact with a few agents to find one that I feel will help us the most with the process. I will also give Go Matilda a try.
  2. Hi, I'm a Uk general medical nurse looking to move to Perth and was wondering if someone could answer a few questions for me? What's the job situation like for nurses in Perth at the minute? Do I apply for my registration before or after my visa? I've been told by some to do it before as then I can apply for jobs without a visa and possibly get a sponsor and to apply after by others. Am I best to apply for a perm job once there? This slightly worries me going all that way without a job especially with a family. Hope someone can help and thanks in advance for any help offered. Cxx
  3. Police officers do qualify but they have restrictions on their visa whereas I wouldn't have any being a nurse. I think skilled visa looks like the best option for us tbh. We have never been the Perth before which worries me slightly, feel that maybe we should at least holiday out there first before making the massive leap to moving. Feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place tryng to make the best decsion. Week. Xx
  4. Hi Debs, we were looking for a PR visa as I don't want to have any restrictions on us. Initially was advised to go for a 457 but Verystormy on here has said not really the best one to go for. So many options. We are hoping to start the process next January as I will be back at work by then and can build up our savings again, actually can't wait. What at agency did you use? I know a lot of people do it on their own but I'm a bit of a stress head and feel an agent may be able to take some of the stress for me. Unsure what to do. On top of finding the perfect area, schools, jobs etc. my head will be bursting. I'm sure I'm not the only one and won't be the last. Hehe. Thanks for any help in advance we really appreciate it. Cx
  5. Hi very stormy, thanks for the info about the 457, it was actually the emigration group that I was speaking to. We had already decided not to use them, which I am glad about now. Just trying to find the best visa for us as don't want restrictions and we both need to work, I'm a nurse and OH is a police officer so would be both wanting to work.
  6. Thanks. I'm a stress head as we'll so wouldn't worry about it. We decided to move to Perth as we feel that it offers everything we are looking for, for ourselves and for bringing up a family. We also know a few folk who have been out to Oz and Perth seems to get the best reviews. I also watch wanted down under, sad I know, and have liked most of the areas they have shown in Perth compared to other areas. Plus the weather is also very appealing. Thought about Brisbane but they get hit with floods a lot which out us off. What at about you? Are you thinking of settling in Perth or travelling? Cx
  7. Hey Jo, thanks for replying so quickly. We are still in the research stage as well tbh, we were meant to apply for our visa this month but we are expecting our first baby in April which has delayed the process. Need to wait until I am back at work and get our savings back on track. We have been advised to go for a 457 but I've been reading on here that a lot of changes have happened with that visa concerning education. Also advised to use an agent but the money side of things is a bit off putting as we want as much for over there as we can have rather than spending on agent fees. The agents we have spoken to already have said its nearer £5000, just don't know what would be best. Feel stressed thinking of all our options and this is just he beginning stages. Eeeeekk. It's such a long process, I'm a registered nurse so been advised to apply for my Australia registration before my visa which means I can apply for jobs and possibly get a sponsored visa. So many options. We are heading to the emigration show in Glasgow next month to hopefully find out more info. Cxx
  8. Hi, Just read that you are deciding to do the visa process yourself, how are you finding it? We are in 2 minds about whether to use an agent or not. Not wanting to make the process anymore difficult than it already seems to be. thanks
  9. Hi, Just wanted to ask you a quick question, did you apply for your visa on your own or did you use an agency? Thanks Cx
  10. Hi Everyone, We were planning on moving over to Perth this year, however we fell pregnant and are now expecting our first baby April'14. This has delayed our move but we wouldn't change it for the world and expecting our first baby has made us all the more determined to move to Perth as soon as we have our savings back on track. I'm a Registered Nurse in Scotland and my hubby is a Police Officer, we are stuck on where we should start the process, we will be going on my visa as there are no restrictions for nurses as there seem to be if we go on his visa. Questions: I keep getting contacted by agencies who want to help with the visa application process, is this a wise move or are we better to do this ourselves? Should I apply for my registration first before my visa? Do you think it would be best to move over and then find a job or find a job and then move over? Once we have our visas I would quit my job and work on the nurse bank until we moved out so we could keep the savings going. Can anyone suggest areas and hospitals that you may know have good reputations? We were thinking about Joondalup or near to it, as we have never been before it's hard to choose a location to settle in. I think I'll leave my questions there for the minute, I have so many more but don't want information overload. We are attending the emigrations show in Glasgow SECC in February so hoping to find out as much info as we can there also. Any help from you all would be much appreciated as we are wanting to get the ball rolling asap. Thanks in advance and hope to speak to you soon. Cx
