  5. We will be breaking lease in the next 8 -12 weeks, (we have built our house) we are currently living in a 4 bed 2 bath in the Eden Beach Suburb. Anyone who has been here knows it is lovely and 2 great parks and the beach on your doorstep. They are also making Marmion Ave 2 lane so will speed up travel and Butler station is a 5 min drive. Its a great house with great neighbors either side. We are sad that we are moving but also excited about owning our own house again. The landlord is really nice and it is run though Peard agency. The house will be advertised soon but wanted to put it on here, the area is great and we have really felt at home and settled in really well living here. If you have a dog they have a great oval here that dog owners meet up for a chat and the dogs run around playing while you can watch the kids at the park. They have outdoor movie nights down at the park near the beach and a farmers market every Saturday, all within walking distance. Message me if you want any other information.

    Northern Suburbs Making Friends

My wife37 and myself 41 are also looking to meet new friends. We have 2 girls age 9 and 5 and we are currently living in Jindalee.
  7. If you end up in Butler give us a shout as we are across the road in Eden Beach, we have an 8 year old and 4 year old. Bulter as a place like any you have some who will say its great and other that say it horrible. There a quite a few xpats there and its not too far to travel depending on where you will work. I work in Fremantle so have a rather horrible drive to and from work, should be moving to Wangra this year so not forever. I would say have a good look around the area once here and see how it feels, i found that looking on real estate is okay(pretty much all i did leading up to coming out) however what you think is a cracking house and area has a different feel once you are in the street or looking around the house.
  8. I did mine 1 year ago. You will have to take readings on a running system. Super hest sub cooling etc. You then have to reclaim the system vac it and recharge and retake readings. You then have to make up a bit of pipework and braze and flare. In the afternoon you have to wire a plug and a 415v plug you then have to electrical fault find a few different units. You will need to be able to take the readings on a single phase compressor and identify which is the common run and start. You will also need to megga out some systems. If you have level 3 city and guilds it will be easier when your over here. Otherwise you need to do a simular assessment over here. The electrical takes a bit of time. 10 online quiz and then a written assessment and then a practical. Takes 3-6 months if working. You will be on a training assistant money so make sure you have money to spare.

    Did I miss anything?

Back in time o start the BBQ tips and recipes again
  10. We are at Eden Beach Jindalee which has loads of rentals and is nice, only down side is my job that i start Monday is in Freo so will be a nightmare, it should be moving to Wangara within 12 months, if i last that long with the commute, depends on what you want to spend weekly as yes the rents have dropped but you will still spend a lot more central, and dont get caught out by working out your rent by 4 and make sure you do the rent x52 divide by 12 as it makes a whole load of difference when working out your monthly costs.

    Thoughts on Butler?

from the feed back we have got by speaking with people and agents is that you are dead right, a whole load of people brought houses / cars and boats that they couldn't afford and once the mines slowed down they have had to start selling their toys. We have had a look around Butler and parts look nice, i like the BBQ test...... and the one by the park / lake Dome failed miserably. Generally the public BBQ are looked after and people clean them after they have been used, however the one at the location above looks like SH1T, i see it as how the people live in that area, respect where they are living. Granted other people may have traveled and messed it up. But then you get visitors to other locations that are all well kept. I have been told (by estate agents) that there are a lot of social housing in Butler / Clarkson, so take from that what you will.

At first I wasn't sure if I was going to do one of these posts or not. I think I have done a master stroke by bringing the mil with us for the first 2 and a half weeks. The wife got on the plane no tears no issues we will see it that remains the same when her mum goes home. We have 2 girls 8 and 3 the 3 year old is challenging so having the Mil has been great as she has taken the kids of when we sort stuff. We have done medicare. If you are going g to the perth office it has moved from what the Internet says. Also sorted my tfn and bank accounts. We have sorted a rental for a year in eden beach and have brought a new car. I have had an interview will have asked when do I want to start but I have another 2 interviews for today and tomorrow. Have spent 2 Sundays on the beach and sunburnt on Sunday just gone. I have been to the college to sort my skills paperwork and booked in when I need to go back. This is where I picked up a parking ticket for the car not facing the flow of traffic. Bang $60 bucks ouch. This is what convinced me to do this post as I wasn't aware of it and something you do Alot at home so watch out.
  16. Ok were to start....... i am pretty sure that from reading on here that you may as well get health care insurance as you will pay the medicare levy..... well after having a chat with a friend today discussing medicare and health care insurance they have been told by their accountant that even if you have private health care you still need to pay the health care levy. so i am now confused. can anyone please clear this up. Thanks

    Car hire...

We used mindarie this time, main reason was they pick us up from the airport in a minibus with a trailer so plenty of room for all the cases that you come over with, and dropped us off at our rental were the hirer cas was waiting for us. and they do it at any time. last time we used bayswater but was only a holiday and we had to get a hotel on the night before due to the time that we came in as bayswater was shut. If you are going to have loads of luggage then highly recommend mindarie

    Thoughts on Butler?

When we came over we had also flagged Butler as a possibility as we drove around looking at places before we viewed them, some of butler looks really nice and its odd but looking on realestate is really misleading, you will see what i mean once you are out here and looking for yourself, some of the houses we viewed also must be set back in the good old days when they could rent a cardboard box and dirty and needs some TLC but still trying to charge $550 a week. I wouldnt worry about rentals until you get out here. i thought we was set on Quinns rock but we have ended up in Jindalee, in fact Eden Beach which is north Jindalee. When we was looking at Butler we have been advised against living there by estate agents, in fact one has avoided living in Jindalee and moved to Amberton just to be far enough away from Butler, the general consensus seems to be that it was built really fast and a whole load of rentals and a whole load of wrong people. (again what people have said not my opinion) The reason we have looked at Jindalee is that we are looking at renting in a place that we are likley to be able to afford to buy in the future. All the best for your hunting Mackem

    job on seek

I have seen a job on seek which matches my skills perfectly. Only issue is the have said Australian citizen only. They claim that they are an equal opportunities employer and in their statement claim nationality as some thing they do not discriminate against. I got a reply saying other people's skills matched the position better than mine. Which it total crap. Ho hum. Doesn't matter as I have loads of others intreasted in me. Just the principal of it really.

Monkey the I'd was easy enough. We took passports. Driving licence UK. Birth certificate. Some uk wage slips and some uk utility bills. Handed it all over and they took what they wanted. Just on the paperwork they want to know everything but it is a standard for.

Mark, we have booked 6 weeks in the rental also, manly so by the time we move into our permanent rental our container will be here and we will have a full house rather than an empty one. The job market seems okay for me Refrigeration and air conditioning, the only issue i am having is the same as what you will is the transfer of skills and having to live on a smaller wage for a while. I have been applying for supervisor roles to try and avoid this but if i have to i will start again at the bottom of the ladder. Getting a rental is odd you have like 10 -15 mins to look around with other people and thats it, if you find something you like go for it. We could have tried to go for a lower rent but as i have no job currently we have paid the asking which is still reasonable rent at the moment. The paperwork to fill out is a mission on its own, well it was for us as never rented before. We also sorted pay monthly contracts not payg and not full 12-24 month contracts but should help with credit ratings. We are off karate tonight and will be joining a gym tomorrow (deal on groupon for 1 month), ooohhhh forgot to mention i have got my daughter into Peter Moyes in Mindarie and she has attended this week and has settled in straight away and loving it. Came home today after day 2 of school asking if 2 other girls can come around to play. At the moment everything seems great apart from boy have we spent some money, feels like having a big wad in your hands and throwing it up in the air. will feel better once i have employment but as others have said WA stands for Wait Awhile

Tax on selling property in UK

No not yet. We have been at contract stage twice already and it has fallen through. Third time lucky. It was our one and only property and we have lived in it for 13 years. With everything else that has gone wrong with the house sale having tax bunged on would pretty much top it off.
