  1. Hi Everyone! Does anyone know of any welding positions SOR - or even NOR? Hubby's work is now out of work for him and my part time wage just wont keep us! We have two young daughters so obviously stressing a little! He's a first class welder and happy to travel anywhere! Any help would be appreciated! Levi

    Here finally!

WOO! So after a quite easyish flight (with two kids ), we've been in Perth for 25 hours and sorted the banking, Medicare and TFN's. Just the drivers licence now! Went in to see about it, but the cat4 document - letter from employer for the address situation... how the hell do I manage that before I start work? yep, I'm impatient BUT just want it done so I can finally relax! L x

    Stressing Out!

Yeah I'm thinking its the kick up the backside I needed! Cleared our loft yesterday. Was a bit sad about seeing most of my life in bin bags! But hey ho!!
  4. I'm a wedding, event & portrait photographer! Looking to do the same when I come over in June!
  5. So, flights were booked and we were to fly out the 21st July, but now we've decided to bring it forward to the 14th of June because hubby is finishing up earlier than he expected... So only 5 weeks away and I'm stressed out with everything we have left to sort. Thought we had time and now we dont!
  6. We fly the 21st of July and feel the same! I'm still trying to get shot of some of our things here as we are starting a fresh there, so thats occupying my time slightly!
  7. Are you onshore just now? I thought it was less time to complete it if you are already in Aus? Yeah they just emailed one morning with the visa grant approved.
  8. Hi Steph, I applied for my partner visa at the very end of June 2014 and had mines granted only a few weeks ago. Hang in there! When did you do your medicals?
  9. Its crazy when you think that they even managed to shoot a plane down. Glad it doesn't happen often - although there was a fair few aircrafts taken down just previous to the MA one. Surely that should have been a warning? Such a sad sad state when families can't even have peace that their loved ones are recovered quickly. Must be so hard. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
  10. Yeah, I just spotted the altitude in one of the news reports. So I take the comment back. Its such sad news for everyone involved - my thoughts go out to them. I still think that even though it's no fault of their own, people may avoid them.
  11. Sky news reported that 6 from the UK were on board. I know it was an act of terrorism, but airlines had been advised to avoid that area due to the ongoing conflict. So MA put cost before safety imo. Bad press twice in a year doesnt fill me with confidence to fly with them - even if it was outwith their control....
  12. Thanks DyleB! Yeah she will be looking at jobs with children so I'll tell her to do it a bit before it Very much appreciated.
  13. Hey, Just wondered if anyone could help - my sister wants to come over to Oz on a working holiday visa next year. How long is processing times? It has on the website that initial contact is 7 days, however it doesnt answer my question. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Levi
  14. Another Malaysian Airlines plane as well. My husband works away, so I always get worried when I hear about anything to do with planes
  15. Haha i'm sure they'll have some for you lol!
  16. Talking of steaks Steven, have you tried the Miller & Carter at Crammond Brig? Best steakhouse around! [emoji108]
  17. Has anyone seen the news about the passenger plane flying over Ukraine? Makes me nervous because thats a popular 'cheaper' route for flying to Australia - UK to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to KL (the route of the plane which crashed) the KL onto Australia. So sad when you hear news like this.
  18. Yeah I will do I hang off just now until after the medicals My mother in law is Australian and lives in perth and shes back for a holiday on Tuesday so I'm so excited to talk Aussie with her haha! Brill! I hope you got stuff in the sale - they are starting their big sale on Saturday!! I got loads from USC for my hubby, and also some stuff for me - they had dresses etc reduced to £4!!! Absolute bargain!! Haha. Im looking forward to the Next sale for all the girls clothes and some more for me x
  19. I wondered this aswell. I know that your entry date into Australia goes on the dates the medicals/character checks are done - because they need to still be valid for when you activate your visa. BUT I (stupidly) got my character checks done before I lodged the visa, so either my date of entry will be before 24th of April 2015 (which means we'll have a couple of weeks to activate it - which I'm prepared to do!) or I will need to get another police check done. BUT Just noticed a little detail on the eMedical thingy - it says my visa is the Spouse 100 permanent. Does this mean I'm being forwarded straight to the 100 rather than having to do the 309 initially then get reassessed in 2 years?
  20. We used to have the two cats - brothers - and sadly one of them passed away in December. I reckon if we still had them both, then I'd look at rehoming them together because it wouldn't be much of a change for them. But because we just have one now, I couldn't rehome him alone. We had him before we had both the girls - and they adore him as well. Thankfully we've had some glorious sunshine here and a little heatwave, and he seemed to thrive on it. Was out the back all day lounging around! So even though it'll be double that in Australia, I think it's likely he'll enjoy it! x
  21. Yeah I presume they do? I've applied for the Partner Visa 309/100
  22. Finally got the email from the CO! We have been assigned JM Glad I can finally book medicals for the girls & myself! We have to do them after the 20th of September. Also just ordered a bundle of clothes from summer sales - maybe getting a tad ahead of myself, but would rather fork out now than next year when its all full price before we go! Another step closer!
  23. Its a royal pain in the backside with having the two girls, but we manage! Hopefully not, but if he finds FIFO work then it will be - but think thats 3 weeks away and one at home. Better than here - he's been away since the start of June so 12 weeks away he'll have done! The joys! Haha.
  24. At least you have time to save and sort it! I think if we get the visa granted, we'll only have a few weeks to validate! But my hubby is working away so we can save save save for when we go - wont see him until September, but needs a must and all that!
  25. Dont go getting my hopes up! Haha! I keep getting 'wobbles'. Lol. The quicker I get there, the better! Are you all ready for September?
