  1. Wow, Perth-London direct come Mar '18!

Just had to do return flight for a family funeral. Outbound trip on Monday was 17hrs 20min and return was 15hrs 45mins. Seats were not bad with plenty of legroom, had an extra seat for return so even more room. Food was alright with 3 main courses and plenty of snacks and drinks. Only one hot option for breakfast so if you like omelettes, great. Cabin crew were great on both legs of the journey. We had a short three day trip so found two long journeys without a break to be very tiring. Would consider using it again if we had a longer turn around time.
  2. Citizenship questions

We are ready to submit our application but having difficulty getting our photos and Form 1195 Identity Declaration endorsed as don't seem to know anyone who is a citizen, has known us for a year and is on the profession list. oh well, will keep on trying.
  3. My OH is having an informal meeting re possible nursing positions and wondered if there are any mental health nurses who work/have worked there who could help with information. TIA
  4. Thanks, she is really enthusiastic about the opportunity to work there and is trying to do as much preparation as possible.
  5. Thanks Ali, OH has always worked in Public Sector but has only been able to get casual work. She has had 3 interviews for pools and been successful only for them to be cancelled. The last time she was verbally offered a full time post but it has now been withdrawn due to budget changes.
  6. Rubbish radio

I found the same so listen talk radio stations, must be showing my age.
  7. Perth CBD what's happening?

Apparently there is going to be a $150 million 15 storey tower development housing a new hotel, multi-screen cinema, bars and restaurants.

  11. Perth Meet Up - 9th April 2017

I'm beginning to think I'm not wanted. I added to the bottom of your last list and now I've disappeared.
  12. Perth Meet Up - 9th April 2017

    Looking forward to it.
  13. 489 granted

Once you activate the visa you can stay or have a holiday and leave. We stayed as we were ready for the move and didn't need to go back to UK.
  14. Moving to Perth

Good luck with everything. It was good to meet you on Saturday.
  15. Moving to Perth

I would expect to pay one months rent in advance and the same again as the bond. Unless there are lots of people after the property you are paying a lot of money up front when it could be used for better things. If you experience any problems you may have trouble getting any money back.
  16. what are you doing at this moment

Raising a glass or two as we celebrate landing in Perth 3 years ago.
  17. meet up all ages

Identities are being withheld to protect the innocent.

    All done electronically.
  20. Making friends

  22. Any "older" Brits, Nth of City.

We'll come, at least there will be four of us.
  23. validation run ?

No, we moved without validating first. Some people validate first so they can take time for the big move but we decided to save the money that would have been used to make the full move.
  24. Perth Nightmare!!!

It's the same in other professions. I'm in sales and applied for a job last week selling products I'd previously sold in the UK. Sent my CV and cover letter and received a call from the national sales manager saying that he was looking to interview this week and could I complete a questionnaire that would be used at interview time. I sent this off and the heard nothing back. I called him on Monday and he said he was a bit busy and would call back, he didn't. I called again Tuesday and asked if I was still going to be interviewed. He sounded flustered and said he would talk to HR and call me back, he didn't. I called again Wednesday and he said he was in the middle of building a showroom display and could I call back after 4pm. I did at different times and, due to going straight to voicemail, left messages asking him to all back so I could get feedback on my application. He didn't. I was looking for work for 9 months prior to present job and rarely received a response to applications or to requests for feedback. It's not easy and you just have to keep plugging away. I am not enjoying my current position due to a lack support from my sales manager but will do the best I can as it pays the bills until something improves. I wish you good luck in your search.
