  1. Congratulations! How long did you have to wait after you applied?
  2. What an interesting post! I just assumed you wouldn't need one, looks like i was very wrong! Looking at getting one in a month or so anyway so now i know it wont be a waste of money if we get to Oz as i will bring it with us.
  3. From the SJA WA website. They are indeed still recruiting. http://www.stjohnchangelives.com.au/qualified-ambulance-officers.html I am unsure about your other queries. Best thing is to speak to them direct. There will be a number on the website, they are really friendly and will be able to advise you.
  4. I agree with most of the others, get caught for speeding? 100% your fault. Don't speed and they can't catch you. Also it's good practice to have your driving licence on you in the UK as if you're pulled over you get a 7 day 'thing' (can't remember the exact word) to produce, (oh yeah, a producer) your licence etc at a police station. A fine seems a bit harsh, but rules are rules. first thing i do if we get there is buy a 'road rules' book so i don't get 'caught out' with different rules.
  5. Safe flight to your hubby, hopefully the next 4 weeks will fly by. xx

    The Kookaburra

Just had a look through all these pics, they're great. Noted down some places to visit when we get over!
  7. I'm so sorry you had such an awful scare, but wow! How quick is that for reassurance! And also IF something had been wrong i bet they would have had you sorted in no time. Thanks for sharing. Medicare def a must then.
  8. Thanks, will take a look.
  9. Live in Surrey, Hubby works for SECAmb.
  10. Re still a technician, yes. Long story to that. I'll pm you later. Neither of us been to Oz before. All very exciting and scary at the same time. We have decided the UK is not for us though so even if not WA we'll find somewhere else to go.
  11. Yes Claire WA amb service also. We are going to tell our family if we get through the paper sift. We applied to NSW a few years ago but were unsuccessful (Hubby is technician and they wanted Paramedics only) and my side were not best pleased. In laws are more then happy for us and told us to go for it. Re thinking about it a lot, same here. I'm either on Poms In Oz or researching areas/prices/houses etc etc. Just in case.
  12. Hi Claire, my husband applied on the 22nd Aug so we're playing the waiting game. If successful we'll be heading over with our kids aged 6 and 3 and our dog. Good luck and might see you out there if we both get all the way!
  13. Hi medtech, my DH has applied recently so sounds like we're at the same process. Good luck.
